So was looking under hood after checking engine oil and noticed a few grains of white stuff under the battery hold down plate.

I instantly knew what that was and took it off to clean it.
Corrosion has worked it way under the rubber coating quite a bit.
Cleaned as best I could and banging it lightly on the brush Guard did wonders. A lot more white crumbs came out. Much more than expected.
Flooded the area with ACF50 anti-corrosion spray and allowed it to soak and creep in.

Reinstalled hold-down and will keep closer eye on it in the future.

This is the third issue in two days.
Front Wheel bearings, then oil cooler lines start leaking and now this.
Been at least a year since any real issues.
It was due…….

Replaced the harmonic balancer with a nice OEM GM unit. While in there found that my power steering bracket is cracked, wasn't bolted up at that little block bracket and was drooping, causing one of the lines to rub a hole in itself on the frame.

Ordered new motor mounts but still a little skittish about attempting that one.

Time to start putting the front end back together soon.

Motor mounts are not as awful as they seem. A floor jack with a 2x6 on its end up to the flat spot where the pan bolts up to the motor lifts the engine. JUST A LITTLE so you don't chance breaking parts on top of the motor against the firewall. Make your lift point more to the front of the mount because the transmission and other side (other mount) will help keep everything in place. Sounds odd, but lift a little, get out from under the truck and look, get under and lift a little more. Just sneak up on it...

I may be chicken, but once you get it jacked up - don't hesitate to throw a jack stand in the mix too. Safety First.

Checked fluids, tire pressures x 5 and started it without drama. Around the block and up to temperature. Ran the PTO generator and ran the air compressor to drive water out of the air tank.
Going to make this a weekly PMCS, minus the DA 2404 form.

Be sure that your DA 2404 is completed as a six part form.
Sign it, throw away 5 parts and put the other in the drivers seat. :cool:

Got the 86 M1008 on the alignment rack yesterday. They got it as close as they could. At least I'm not fighting the steering wheel anymore lol

Or maybe looking at older trucks just "does it for me".

The exhaust on the 💩box truck; no idea who made the mufflers, but they only have metal baffles similar to a Flowmaster. It sounds like a never ending fart under acceleration...

Bet it sounds tough though.
Those mufflers don't quite look like factory, but I couldn't swear to that.
Definitely looks like freshly welded and installed...

Yes I had the exhaust done 4yrs ago right after I bought it. The old pipes were rotted and fell off.

Just think of a combination of a Glasspack and a whoopie cushion for exhaust tone😆

It is really amazing to go to a muffler shop if they aren't overly busy. Having the right tools makes all the difference! The benders, expanders, and the guy who welds pipe all day can be really impressive to watch.

I have heard that sound before. I had to go back and re-read your #9233 post - and yeah - more like a continuous fart. Guess the baffles rather than glass cause that. Still, if it works for the purpose my answer to anybody's complaint is a simple "bite me". That seems to happen more often as I get older too. ;-)

If you could share your next time easier way of doing the job next time for other members that may be doing the same job in the future that would be helpful. I would be curious myself to know the bitch parts of the job to avoid.

Just hoping you put the correct lift pump on so you don't have to do it again lol
