Jean, I think everyone appreciates your interest and enthusiasm for these trucks, but you should really create your own thread with your questions. This thread is about the air conditioners. By mixing topics, it is considered bad form. Also, it can make these threads less useful for people wanting to learn about one specific topic.

Maybe make a thread just on your truck.

In the upper left corner of the instrument panel is a switch that will apply 24v to the fan control solenoid valve and force the fan to freewheel/keep it from engaging. It is for driving into/fording deep water where a coupled fan might get damaged…
There's actually 2 blank prongs....it kinda scares me to send 24 volts the freewheel ac fans....never did like electrical.....just don't understand it.....

Man. What a ton of info in this thread. But, I'm late to the party.

I'm hoping to get A/C added before summer arrives. I think I can find most of the needed parts, but I'm looking to support the folks here if I can.

Hoses, fittings, basic wiring etc... I can source locally. The compressor, dryer and switches I can just source online.

I figure I need:

Both driver side brackets for the 3116 (or there was some mention of a passenger side conversion with place for a/c and 200A alt)
Pulley for the 3116
condenser unit
Gen2 evaporator unit

Anyone have any of this left for sale?

I'm new also and looking for them same. From what I can tell the 3126 would need the same brackets. Anyone know if any of the A/C kits I have seen in the recent past on GP coming out of Yermo would contain any useful parts for LMTV? Also, I see a similar looking unit in a RedDot catalog to the picture on the first post of this thread. Not sure if it is available to the public, I haven't researched or inquired so anybody have input? Also, what are the chances of a civilian truck with a 3126 motor in it having the brackets for the left side install or are they installed on the right side under the alternator? Thanks for any input.

I'm not 100% sure with the 3126, but I looked at the 3116 that GM put in some of the Topkick trucks. Every one I found had the A/C brackets on the passenger side, which was made possible by running a much smaller civilian alternator on that side.

Tom is a member here and has all the parts. You only need to make up your hoses:

There may be a wait on some items. Get them while you can before summer. I have almost everything and Tom has been great to work with. Good prices too if you compare to what others are asking:

The Topkick installation position doesn't clear the LMTV doghouse.

I build and sell a kit for the 3116 that uses a commercial 200A 24v alternator.

Fyi: for the cost of a surplus evap you can get an entire system from Coldmaster. You need the pulley and bracket still, but saves thousands of dollars going this route.
