I might have killed a rat

The majority of my issues were caused by my rodent friends chewing around the fuse box. If you suspect rodents it wouldn't hurt to check around there. Apparently that big clump of wires is appetizing to mice.

I might have killed a rat

I have had my m1009 for about half a year now and I have been slowly working on it trying to get it in condition to pass inspection (last inspected in 2008 ). This truck had been working on our ranch for about 4 years and has always been a good dependable truck but, it has always had a large...

    Putting a M1008 to work

A resistor bypass would also be a good (free) modification. Very nice truck!

    fuel priming help

Warthog, I like your idea on pressurizing the tank could you expound on how you go about doing it? soule64, You wouldn't happen to have the part number on that vacuum pump would you? I like having a mechanical fuel pump but it just makes me cringe having to ride my starter to prime the fuel...

    Not Starting

I know this sounds stupid and more than likely you did it right but, when you bled the air from the fuel filter you did it from the top of the filter right? When I first got my m1009 I kept draining the bottom of the filter wondering why the truck wouldn't start.

    Normal operation?

If you had it in 4wd then yes. The front axle is open and after traction is lost only one tire will spin at a time. However it is possible that one of the front tires started to spin then grabbed allowing the other front tire to spin.

    Fuel sending unit

They are selling them for $129.xx and they are surplus OEM units. They are a little spendy but my old one lasted 25 years so I think its worth it.

    Fuel sending unit

Yes the TM has the part # as 25004140. I have tried my local auto part stores and the guys behind the counters are clueless as to how to find the right part let alone even know what a CUCV is. Google has a lot of threads about the part # but they all seem to be a dead end in finding out where...

    14 Bolt oil fill

x2 Don't bother picking up another diff cover. If the plug doesnt come off just fill it up through the vent. It is alittle time consuming but it gets the job done.

Under the CUCV FAQ Article at the top the previous page you will find the technical manual that everyone uses for repairs.
