    longest trip in a cucv

758 miles in a day and a half, from Salt Lake City (where I bought the truck) to Portland. I drove an untested, untagged truck 758 miles through an Idaho ice storm without a hitch. Pure luck, actually, since the brake MS went soon after.

M100 used to get radio gear today

Nice. I run an R-390a and hands down it is the best rx I've ever run. I run a folded 80m dipole into the balance connector and can easily get the entire pac rim, africa and russia as well as canada, mexico. Europe is a once and then occurance, but that's more the antenna than anything. For ssb...

    Boys, Check your nuts!!!

I was in a 76 Ford when the passenger side wheel sheered off because we didn't re-torque the nuts on an aluminum rim after doing a brake job. 55 miles an hour on a country road and the rear went *THUMP*, sparks flew out the back and we slid for about 100 yards before the driver was able to...

Things I found at the pick and pull...

I've been annoyed at my lack of operational tailgate. The tailgate is a rusted, rubberless hunk of crud and me + welding is just a generally bad idea. So I popped off to the junkyards to go see if I can find a new tailgate that works. First yard I hit actually makes you *pay* to go in. 2 bucks...

    Exhaust

A few months ago I cracked mine right at the manifold. I ignored it and drove with the windows down until it finally dropped off while going through downtown pdx. Got a custom bent one thrown on and you notice the little bit of extra umph. Not alot, but enough that my 1009, loaded with tools...

    M1009 sitting uneven.

Side note: I was always partial to the banana flavored windows.

    a. Yes, they do make a breathalyser switch: New in Labs: Stop sending mail you later regret - Official Gmail Blog b. There is obviously no way 100 lbs of batteries couldn't cause the lean, but, I figured being polite to the slow kid wouldn't cause any harm.

    M1009 sitting uneven.

It seems to be worse in the back. I have one 6tl and one non-6tl which was substantially lighter. Good thing I'm chubby and drive. :) -b

tires are all inflated the same. I'll check the bumpstops in the AM.

    M1009 sitting uneven.

Hi All, I've tried looking for this but no hits on "lopsided olive green beast) came up in search ;) For some reason my passenger side is about an inch or so lower than my drivers. Doesn't seem to effect anything, but it's always been like this. I replaced all the shocks, still the same. The...

M1009 cab and cargo box conversion

That's pretty neat.... wouldn't do it to my truck, but still, pretty slick.

    Taming Transmission Shifts

Correct. The old one on mine did not have it. The aftermarket one does.

    Taming Transmission Shifts

There is a screw in the middle of the vacuum port of the transmission modulator. I pulled mine almost all the way out. Also the vacuum valve on my truck was bad. It's fairly easy to check. Take it off and trist the orange connector that hooks up to the throttle body. Blow into it. If it doesn't...
