So I went to start my truck yesterday (1985 1008) and the wait to start light stayed on for almost a minute. Then when I started it, the light came back on while cranking. So I used the TM and trouble shot the gp system. Plugs are 5 days old, relay clunks when in the run position. Got 24V on the...
Yes, its for the temp sending unit for the glow plugs on the top back of the engine. Not sure but Im gonna check today to see if its the same as the cold advance sensor on the front left of the engine (next to the 1st injector).
Fixed mine for $4.00. I bought two brass fittings from OReillys, one elbow shaped, one with a petcock. I had to rethread the elbow with a 9mm die, put an o-ring on the top, done deal. Now I can bleed my fuel with a lever versus a screw.
Not sure if there is a thread for this yet but I can't find one. My GP temp sending unit S**t the bed yesterday so I went on the search for a new one. Nobody seems to have the style that is on our trucks. SO, I bought the newer version of the sensor at OReillys (pn# WT3000 for $19.39) and a new...
aua Bottom line is: I need to just buy new plugs. I hate having stuff I can't use!!! Anybody know where I can get a fuel bleeder screw? The Chevy dealer wants to charge me $25 for a plastic friggin screw!!! Im just gonna buy a new relay and plugs, then I have to figure out how to bleed the fuel...
Where'd you get the switch from? Depending on where you live, you might not want a keyless ignition. I know here, my truck would be gone in a heart beat.
:ditto: I can't get jack off my computer. It didn't used to be an issue so I have a ton of personal stuff on my work computer....then they decided to put a lock down on the use of flash drives.....now all my personal files are stranded. Im gonna try to use a website that one of the other guys on...
I agree that it would be easier to stay stock, it just seems a waste that I have a couple extra relays and 50-something 24V plugs.
Im gonna do the manual push button conversion and I was just wondering if I could get away with going to 24V plugs.
Gotcha, will do. If i bypass that Glow Plug module, will it mess with any of the other electronics in the truck? I don't think it will as looking at the schematics there is nothing else associated however, the TMs are know for not being 100% accurate.
What your telling me is the stock gp relay...
Thats strange. It sounds like the tumblers are not in the barrel.....unless they are stuck open. You could shoot some WD40 in there and slide your key in and out. Might free up those tumblers.
