    R Stands for Rev

I suggest that as soon as you get your newly purchasing truck or blazer home, as soon as it's off the trailer, that you drop the tranny pan and change the filter & fluid. I would do this even tho the fluid shows that its full and that it smells okay (not burnt smell). I have had two trucks that...

    axles

I have set D60 & 14B out of M1008 . Loc in upper SC. Just remember when someone says they have 14 bolt, if it's out of a 3/4 ton truck or suburban it is a 14B BUT not like what's in the MV . First of all it probably won't have the Detroit locker and also the brake shoes on the MV's are normally...

    Steering wheel chain

Thanks for waking me up, I just wasn't thinking about what I read. The older I get - the more one track mind I get.aua

    Steering wheel chain

Ref. keys to the pad locks & chain locking the steering wheel: I have probably 6-8 of chains w/locks and also just as many keys but I can't get the keys to work in any of the locks. Is there some special position or procedure to I need to do. These came off of dueces and cucvs. Have following...

    GL price fixing?

To: SETOYOTTA--------- For me, I agree with you. For a company that is responsible for selling many millions of dollars of US Goverment material and goods every year, the thought of them to work in some kind of scheem to add a few dollars here and there, don't even make sense at all. I'm not...

    IP replacement questions/problems

I think you need to have someone verify that the IP you mentioned is a 6.5L pump. The pump DB-2829-xxxx I believe are for the 6.2L engines and the pumps for the 6.5L all have the DB-2831-xxxx. Ck it out, I wouldn't want you to get mislead.

    Banks sidewinder turbo system m1028

Oldsouthernboy--My 1009 I probably will keep. In considering putting D60 in front & 14B in rear & taking off rear top & making a "rock-crawler" to try to go on some rides w/grandkids with my son. This is the only cucv I have ever seen the military put a Banks on. After further cking after I got...

    Banks sidewinder turbo system m1028

I have a Banks on my M1028 and my son has one also. We did not have to change either battery location at all. I also bought a M1009 which had a Banks on it and same - no changes. As to fuel milage Banks sayes it should increase it and on both our trucks it added at least 2-3 mpg better. I have...

    M1010 axles v/s M1008

The M1010 (which is the "Ambulance" ) have "open" fronts. Maybe rmd is thinking of M1031 type chassis. You can tell if it has the Trac-Loc by unscrewing the front filler plug and look in the hole. You can see part of the "clutch pac" (you may have to turn one wheel while its jacked off ground...

Cooper Discoverer ATR - Good or Bad

I got a M1028 from GL a couple of years ago and it had a (looked like) brand new set of the Cooper. I used the tires on my 97 Chev Z-71 as I needed a set on it. I drove it until 2 months ago & fortunately on back road near home, one tire had the thread break loose . Next day a bought a new set...

M1008 dana 60 front locker question

Why do you think you have a LSD in your M1008? Has someone changed it? The M1008 has the open type. M1028, 1031 has the "Dana Trac-Lok" which is a LSD. But to answer your question, yes you can put the Locrite actual a "locker" in the open type Dana 60 housing.

    rear end question

H has nothing to do with rear end but refers to the truck series only, not the M1009 and means that the front end Dana 60 has the "Dana Trak-lok" in the front which is a clutch pack that makes the front limited slip. The 14B rear all have the locker. The M1009 does not have the 14B. The only...

Best place to order glass for a M1009

I have a friend located near Easley, SC that deals in some MV parts and he has brand new ones still in packaging at cheap prices. I assume you need both. We are talking about the side panel glasses in the rear top cover on the M1009. I don't think he has back roll up glass. If interested PM me...

Need Some Help Finding A Switch

Lavarock, To answer your question, yes that switch (I think it's just a micro switch) either cuts "ON" or "off" when you pull your gear shift lever in "D". If you leave it in "N" your engine will run wide open which can ruin your engine and also your generator as the generator suppose to run...

G.I. Robo tool set.... what to offer?

Ref these Robo units vs the air impact. Cucv's do not have air so the snap on etc are not so great when you are on a trail in the woods or trying to help another traveler with problems. With the robo , just plug it in and go. If you don't like one just pull out your 4-way and go to sweating.

    Has anyone turbocharged their CUCV?

I have the Banks on my M1028 for 2 yrs and it make a huge difference in power. I bought a used one . The Banks won't give up 16 # boost. Mine is 8-10# range but when pulling a trailer with a load it makes an unbelieveable difference. The 6.2 will absolutely die on an upgrade if you are pulling...

    glow plugs

You can check individually ea glow plug to see if its okay. Take them out and cut you a pc. of 10-to 14 ga wire abt 1 ft long. Cut back 1/2" ea end and get a battery, you can use them one in your car (no need to take out). Take one end of wire and use pliars to hold naked wire end on the spade...

    Need help asap

On pic #3 is looks like your main + cable from the junction box got "shorted" directly out by the battery hold down frame. Those frame are coated w/rubber but it wears off & should never be bolted down firmly on any batt cable. That could be alot of your whole problem. Also be sure you get a 24v...

    Speedometer problem

The cable from the gear in the tranny is direct to the adaptor on back of your odometer, so as long as nobody has changed the gears with wrong ratio, your odometer (not speedometer) should be good as you say. The speedometer is operated much different. It kinda works off I believe a magnetic...
