my cucv is by far the best snowplow truck i have ever owned. not a lot of speed but i have a 9 foot plow on it and it will push far more snow than any of the new super duty's around. the biggest problem is low top speed and not not a lot of creature comforts in the cab
my hubs were all screwed up also. apparently the military has a lot of time to replace parts regardless of how things should go together. the spring should hold the locking collar out. when the hubs are locked the spring should compress the sliding collar onto the spine of the axle.
i have had good luck just putting a new bearing in. not a good fix, but enough to keep it going. if it is the main bearing you can grind down a machine screw to just a little thinner than the main bearing, insert it into the oil hole and turn the crankshaft. the bearing will rotate until you can...
I picked up two m35a2's. you will love it when you get it. The biggest problem i've had is no power steering. which is really not a problem until you try to turn when trying to shift and make it through an intersection!
i was worried about my two trucks i bought sight unseen. Both have turbo's and run GREAT. They dont have a lot of power but they are very cool. You will be happy when you pick it up!
for the first one we just backed it right up to the ramp as far as it would go. we have a winch on the trailer that had to help pull it up as the back hit the ramp. but as soon as it cleared it backed right up without any problems
my brother and i just put a 12 valve cummins in a ford 550...no easy job. definately not for the faint of heart. took about a month of working on it after work!
chevy trucks and suv's had rear steer for a while. i've never owned one but i imagine it would be a cluster later in the vehicles life...more ball joints and tie rods to go bad...what do you guys think?
I was taught a way of de-sulfating batteries by my old wise grandfather. It's called the drop test. If you have a battery that seems to not take a charge. Pick up the battery and drop it on the grass a few times from about two feet high. Seems kind of barbaric but believe it or not IT WORKS!
I found in the old chevys truck you do not have to pull the cluster out to replace the bulbs. If you have small hands you can reach up behind the dash and rotate the sockets 90 degrees and they will come out with the bulb. Just put a new 194 bulb in the socket and turn 90 degrees again. It takes...
first i would check to see if it is the correct starter...my cucv had a starter with the wrong number of teeth on the starter drive. when i brought it to compare with a new starter i found a different number of teeth and different tooth profile. i put the right starter in it and she worked...
