    NHC 250 Block Heater Inst.(PICS)

I had the same problem. Tighten the nut on the receptacle and it should stop the leak (I believe there is a gasket on the backside that won't seal unless that nut is tight).

    Choctaw H140 heater cycles a lot.....normal?

Same here. It'll run hot, then cycle off.....a big puff of smoke, and she's hot again. I run into flameouts when using the remote box....seems to have something to do with the thermostat, not sure.

    Rattle can'ing a M923

Ospho is fantastic!! I used it on a rusty Galion crane.....and it neutralized the rust like nothing I've seen. It leaves a slight film, though easily brushed off prior to priming.

    Block heater M923A1

About 2-3 hours....after that, it'll melt the snow off the hood.

    Put M936 to work

I found your "Galion's" long lost relative at my house.....another "toy" added to the sandbox.

    1984 m925

Condition? Rebuilt? A good price is in the $6k to $7k range for a M925 without super single tires, little work done, some rust, etc......not a pristine truck. If in excellent condition, rebuilt, no rust, single tires (an A1 or A2 model), $10k+ easy. If a 1984, likely looks just like mine.

    20K winch weight

Did the same, a 1000-1200 is about right (my Bobcat is rated for 1200)

Looking for some advice on a hyd pump for a snow plow set up.

Steel Soldier "Autoshopteacher" did one about two years ago.......extremely well done. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?84909-Snow-plow-on-817-%28Now-that-winter-is-almost-over%29&highlight= I personally used a Halodex 24v power pack for my plow (on the lift) and used the M925...

5 Ton brake fluid change, Dot 3 to Dot 5 critique

Thank you gents! Anything to do with brakes makes me slow down, double check......then check again. I've even thought about spending the $$$ to switch to air brakes on the M817 (would be a waste vs. going to an M929, but I do love this truck).

5 Ton brake fluid change, Dot 3 to Dot 5 critique

I made the mother of all mistakes, and assumed my M817 was filled with Dot 5...it wasn't. So I opened the TM for switching from Dot 3 to Dot 5 (TB 43-0002-87) and followed the steps. As there is nothing more critical in our trucks with a single circuit brake system, I'm asking for any...

    M923A2 Recovery 2000 miles

Contact steel soldier JBL. He's helped a lot of us with our trucks out of Sparta. He's an Army mechanic, works on these for a living....great guy too.

switching from DOT 5 to DOT 4 brake fluid

Absolutely fantastic thread on brake fluid in our trucks! I mistakenly added Dot 5 to my M817 (which has Dot 3/4 in it....found this out after the fact when filling an EMPTY master cylinder). Not so worried about the little I added, but will convert to DOT 5 after reading TB 43-0002-87.

NO Voltage or HZ reading on meters

" push to reset AC breaker".......this is what happened to me with one of our Mep-002's. I overlooked the breaker, checked each circuit per schematic......and I forgot to check the breaker. Sometimes it's as simple as that.

Tips and tricks - zippered front knuckle boots

Great advice on how to replace the knuckle boot. I did the passenger side on a M925 over the weekend....1st time doing this. It was difficult for sure, but the advice from others was the key to success, mainly: Semi tighten the inner clamp to keep the boot in the groove......prior to...

Battery switch on (heater fan, lights work) no gauges or engine crank?

Put a new ECU in today....problems solved (intermittent starting, ABS light on). Does anyone repair these? Thank you

    5Ton Dump Question

They did, no issue (as long as they work and the drums aren't smoking when you pull in). I had to explain that the truck has no emergency brake system other than a parking bake.

    5Ton Dump Question

Oops.....I didn't get that done until about a month after mounting the lights. Here's a pic I took in May of 2012. The bumper was a project in itself. I wasn't sure if it was required on a FMV, but the thought of some idiot pulling out in front of me with no room to stop......and having 52"...

    5Ton Dump Question

Same here. Added a set of LED stop/tail/turn lights, reverse light and alarm, side marker lights, front top lights (amber, 5), and turned the front turn signal lights into running lights (added an electronic connector in the cab). Passed IL DOT inspection (they did look for all of these)...
