As long as it has been in a closed container so not foreign material could contaminate it you should be fine. It doesn't absorb moisture like DOT3 which is what kills it over time.

I think its time for a head gasket replacement.

You are correct. redrocket78 follow this link. Clinto has a couple of links that show what members have used. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?96045-Borrow-a-head-bolt-tool-in-central-VA&highlight=deuce+head+gasket

Need help deciding on an M-? truck

Also just a fyi you can install power steering on a deuce if you are leaning in the direction of the A2 but want easy steering. Also the A2 can be equipped with 2 PTO units to drive pumps if it doesn't have a winch already. There is a .69 gear kit available for the manual transmission in the A2...

Civi 2WD axle in the back of my M1009, I need to match up my ratios

I have had good luck using a small inspection mirror to look around the differential to see the pinion when the differential fills most of the housing. The tough part can be keeping a reference point to start counting from. I find in smaller areas like this the rectangular shape mirror works...

Civi 2WD axle in the back of my M1009, I need to match up my ratios

The only 100% foolproof way is to pull the cover and count the teeth on the pinion and the ring gear.

    Return Line Fittings

I believe from what I have read here that a standard ferrules will work. From what I can tell the original style was just a one piece design that made assembly easier because they didn't have to deal with the separate nut and ferrule. Because the nut and ferrule where one piece they just needed...

    axle length ?

Years ago one of the 4X4 magazines interviewed a GM light truck engineer that said they used the narrower rear axle housing to offset the bigger turning radius of the 4X4 trucks. One thing you can do is use a 14 bolt from a 1 ton GM van. They have the wider track so they don't need the spacers...

    International K-8 trucks

Can't help with much concrete info but looking at the first pic of the cargo body it appears only the section between the cab and the rear wheels has hinges to fold down. I believe you are correct on the front trim. Looks like a great project. Also I keep looking at the photo of the cargo truck...

700r4 swap - core and rebuilt or "new"?

My 89 V1500 Jimmy had the TBI 350/700R4 combo in it and I had 350K+ on it when I sold it and the second owner put another 40K on it before junking the truck from rust. I used to pull a 6800# travel trailer with it on a fairly regular basis and never had a transmission issue. I did install a...

NC Members-House to consider MV plate

Hope it all goes smoothly but be ever vigilant. Keep a very weary eye towards any new possible restrictions that might come with a special tag.

    Cracked my intake manifold today

That would be a even better idea. I am guessing that the stock gasket has a metal structure sandwiched in the middle because of it being used in the exhaust side that would make it a little harder to cut. It would be easy enough to cut the outside shape and like you said you could shellack the...

    Cracked my intake manifold today

That was what I was going to suggest but then I figured I would be considered a :cookoo: . There is no reason at all that you couldn't do that. The way this gasket is made you would need to cut out the pieces for each intake runner.

    Cracked my intake manifold today

If I remember the intake/exhaust manifold gasket are one piece which means that you would have to remove the exhaust manifold to replace the gasket. There in lies another can of worms removing the exhaust manifold nuts from studs on the heads. Also the exhaust manifold is a multipiece assembly...
