It is a personal decision of course. I had to decide the same on my old 9C1 Caprice. I finally let 'er go, but I still miss her. I'll bet you will be the same. Even if you get one like it. The first one is always the one you remember.;-)
I apologize. I just assumed that you searched the forum and found your answer. Go to the CUCV forum and search that specific forum and you will see MANY threads that will give you better info than I can.
But a simple test to see if your glowplugs are getting juice is to use a test light and...
I loved having one key to fit all the locks on my 9C1 Caprices. Also the idea that I could go to Mich and start any '91 State Police car was kind of intrigueing!;-)
Yeah a bunch of us have mentioned/cussed/discussed the dreaded GL customized driveshaft from Ft Mead! They also broke my tranny to T-case adapter, so I'd suggest inspecting things closely. A little work now could save money and time later!
Have you found your problem yet? Did you check each glowplug seperately? I just changed mine and I tested them all seperately and found 5 dead and only 3 live! And the first one I took out looked almost new and tested fine. But the other three on that side were dead. My 1008 now starts like...
Well that was fun.....NOT!
My Gen 1 light did not come on at all. But as I was coming home in the snow and cold, my headlights kept getting dimmer and dimmer. Yep. The front batt was dead on arrival home. I cleaned up the red wire on the alt and now the light comes back on. ( I charged the front...
I just worked on the 1008's driver side alt. It had an old ground wire that was broken and had an add-on wire on it that went to the one of the intake bolts. This wire was about a #10 wire. It broke as I attempted to remove it. Of course I didn't have an eyelet that big in my electrical stuff...
Man, I feel your pain. I had a 9C1 Caprice (ex-cop car) that I went thru 3 alternators before I got a good one! But, when I got it all sorted out, that was one fantastic car! Good luck on yours.
My Gen 1 light comes on with lights and heater on. I put in a new blower motor(it was dragging and...
But realize it isn't the truck's fault. It was a mistake in a factory.;-)
BTW: Did you get this finally fixed? If so, what was it? Enquiring minds want to know......
Wanna have fun? Drive past an elementary school when the kids are on the playground. All the boys will watch you pass. I think that is a hoot!
Welcome. There are a great group of people here.
Let 'er snow! I got a working fan!
For anyone else that needs a blower motor, it IS the heavy duty heater and the blower motor part # from NAPA is 655-1076. And if I didn't have such fat fingers, it would be an easy install.
OK< I searched and couldn't find out which blower motor that I need. I found confirmation that there are two blower motors for the 1008 trucks heaters. Napa lists one with the big heater and one with the smaller heater. Which is the right one for our trucks? I hate to pull the motor since there...
Did you actually CHECK the glowplugs and found them good? Or did you just go by the LOOK? I actually did the same once. The PO had put a new set of plugs in an engine. I did a simple test of the GP circuit and it showed good. After much expense and time I was no better off. So I began at the...
