The more I look into this, the more inclined I am to agree with you. But I am curious why the TM indicates there is a breather or relief valve there.

These pumps have been available for years and have been mentioned here several times. I have one in my deuce and it works great. Just wondering why you went with the Rube Goldberg setup instead?

Yes, it was leaking from the same spot. I used a power grease gun and pumped in 2 or 3 tubes of grease through the drain hole. Can't remember exactly how much but it's not super critical.

Mine does the same and there is no easy fix. I read the TM and some threads on rebuilding and decided to drain and refill mine with corn head grease. No more leaking. By the way, that's some nasty looking grease coming out of yours. It's probably never been changed.

Have you checked to make sure air is getting to the wipers? New metal ones are around $95. There are a number of threads about them- there is a mod to convert the blades to civy ones which work much better. If I remember correctly, they cannot be lubricated.

Ooh, I see what you're saying- seems like folks have used just about anything flammable in a spray can! Actually I have spray silicon too but never thought about using it to start the engine. :grin:
