You can do them yourself but if done incorrectly you could kill yourself, literally. For the $15~20 bucks most tire guys charge to dismount and remount a lock ring tire I just don't see any reason to do it yourself.
About any decent truck tire shop will have the tubes or get them easy. Should be around $20 for a new tube. Sense you have to break down the tire to repair a tube of questionable heritage I would just put in a new tube. Might consider a flap also if you are unsure of the condition of the one in...
They highlighted parts where a one piece filter element. Erik's has the hole assembly available.

I have run straight diesel in my sense I got it and at idle it has just the faintest hint of smoke. What the heck test is this for ?. I wouldn't think they emission test a 70's vehicle.

Last time out I had some surging and didn't want to wind up very well so this past weekend replaced the fuel filters and tightened the belts and took a nice drive.. :-) I really need to take the fuel tank off and have it boiled.
Thanks for the info. I have my letters ready to mail in the A.M. I also printed a couple copies of the bill's to have with me when I stop by to see the owners of some historic tagged fire trucks I've seen. Just in case the owners are not aware of the proposed legislation.
