Was looking for a shop in or near Milwaukee to work on M1008; then did it all myself!

Ok great because I wasn’t really wanting to mess with them again lol. The first one I was installing extended out much faster than I thought it was going to when I cut the strap and it was quite a workout to compress it back in. Also I think that sleeve being outward is probably better for the...

I was just looking at the pics and I realized that the top of the shock has a bit longer sleeve on one side and I installed it outwards… is that incorrect? does it even matter? It would only be a few mm difference if I flipped it around.

Just got back from a quick drive and WOW night and day difference. The truck not only rides way better but also feels more stable. Now when I hit bumps it’s a firm but smooth feeling instead of a jolt. My dash isn’t shaking and making noise whenever the road is uneven. Also I did some hard...

It rode nice on the smooth country roads, but was very bouncy on the city streets where there’s a lot of potholes and cracks. I’m finishing up the front shocks right now and I will take it out for a drive and will report back!

Yeah that’s what’s spray painted on the fenders, but I figured that would be for hauling heavy loads and would make for a worse ride quality. I’m running the Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/75/16s. I think the max psi on them is 80.

Yeah one of the grease fittings. I was greasing the axle and when attempting to remove the grease gun from the zerk fitting it broke off. I ordered a lock ‘n lube for the grease gun so it hopefully won’t happen again.

Just a couple questions for you guys: I mentioned earlier I broke a zerk on the axle. Is that going to be a SAE zerk for the replacement? I was going to order some from Amazon but wanna get the right ones. I’m going to install the new shocks tomorrow, any tips or stuff I should know before...

Yeah it did come with assembly lube. That really sticky stuff that you definitely don’t wanna get on your hands. I used gloves and coated all the bushings before inserting them into the eyelets on the sway bar, then also coated the sleeves before pressing them in. I didn’t apply any on the...

Was looking for a shop in or near Milwaukee to work on M1008; then did it all myself!

When my brother got home he showed me this air hammer tool he’s got. He said next time I could probably use it to punch the bushing right out. But this time I just did the torch method and they pulled out fairly easily. I know you mentioned you always paint the stuff you work on before...

Found a grease gun in my brothers tools! Will go through the front end and lube everything up real good. Had to use a propane torch to melt some of the rubber and get the bushings out of the sway bar. Now I’m giving it a fresh coat of paint before I put it back on the truck.

I figured since I’m down there I might as well take on the sway bar bushings. I just got the bar off the truck and now I’m attempting to remove the old bushings out of it. Thanks for all the help guys.

Yeah it’s definitely the original. Thing was frozen in there so bad that it seemed like it was permanently attached. From looking at the new hardware and realizing that it’s a tapered bolt I figured that it was just jammed and needed a little help from the sledge. Thing is definitely shot...

Gave her a good whack with the ‘ol leatherface hammer and it came out. That tapered bolt was really jammed in there.

Was looking for a shop in or near Milwaukee to work on M1008; then did it all myself!

Quick question. I’m about to install my new steering stabilizer and im removing the old one. I removed the castle nut but I was wondering if this bolt is also threaded through this rod, or do I just bang it out? I did try to stick a wrench on the backside of it and loosen it out but it’s...

Not sure what they did to the alternators but the lights are off as soon as the motor starts now. Don’t know if that will always happen but that’s how it’s been since I reinstalled them. I know the squeak isn’t a huge deal but I’m just worried that maybe they either installed a bad bearing or...

Also, the damn alternator still squeaks after putting ~300 miles on it. https://streamable.com/iwv0se I wish the guy would’ve just addressed it when I said something when picking it up… anyway I called him and told him and he said to bring it back. Other than the noise they seem to be good...

I have some left over heater hose I could try. I will mess with it and see what happens. Maybe the forklift bent it when they were in the process of destroying my driveline 😂

That’s funny. Nothing beats those classic cartoons. Nowadays that would probably offend someone. Anyway what do you think I should do to cure that buzzing? Rubber washers or something?

Thanks so much for the offer man. I ended up ordering the Monroe’s last night and they’re already on their way so no need, but super appreciate that. I tracked down the vibration to the gas tank skid plate. I parked on top of a manhole cover and put the parking brake on and I got the...
