Yes, you will need to pull the starter and radiator. The motor mount bolts only come out when you start lifting the engine out.

Basic terms is that glow plugs cycle a few times after the engine starts. It sounds like you need to tighten your belts or replace them.

Your going to have to crank it for awhile to bleed the lines or crack them open and turn it over. It can a little bit to get the air out. The motors are no different between I 2v and 24 volt. I hope this helps.
