    Master Cylinder, brake fluid geyser

Hello all, did a quick search and didn't find anything like the issue I am having. So here it goes. I got a 1971 AM General 2.5 ton. When purchased didn't have any brakes. Went through the whole system, replaced the Master Cylinder, Air Pack, one rear brake line, all wheel cylinders, three...

    Starter issues

Well, got the starter rebuilt and went to put it on. What I additionally found was that the bolt didn't fall out. It broke off up inside the bell housing. Not sure what would cause that condition, but I decided that wasn't work I had time to perform. Also had them take the hubs apart and...

    Starter issues

Ok, I need some education. CDR? IP? Having just pulled the starter off myself, yes very certain it is oil. In matter of fact I am all but certain that the oil is what lubed the starter bolts and enabled the vibration and torque from starting to work them loose. For the past couple of months...

    Starter issues

I was hoping that wasn't the case. Anyone done a rear main seal on one of these ole girls? How much is that going to set me back?

    Starter issues

So starter went today. While taking it off to bring it in for a rebuild I noticed allot of oil around the work area. Reason it went was a bolt fell out (kind of surprising) and when I went to try and turn it over the starter twisted and broke off a portion of the starter housing and wouldn't...

HMMWV fording exhaust on a CUCV

Well my pipes have rotted off and its time to re-do the exhaust. Man it will be nice not getting all the fumes leaking up through the tailgate for a change. I want to put a HMMWV fording exhaust on my M1009. I got a guy that says he can do the work. Just wondering what you all thought, and or...

    1986 M1009 Fuel Tank Size

So forgive my ignorance, and for my resurrection of this thread. So what would happen if you used the spectra FG12A unit listed above http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=17326, but used it with a larger 31 gallon tank (you know so you would have a return)? Would it just not suck up...

    M1009 Radiator, civilian equivalent

Update, so this reservoir looks right, but the measurements are way off. I was able to pull it off with a little 550 cord, but ya not a true replacement by any means.

    M1009 Radiator, civilian equivalent

So ya, I got an e-mail from them today saying the item is discontinued. Back to the grind of finding one available somewhere. Ended up going with the NAPA part number 6053401 and ordered online.

    M1009 Radiator, civilian equivalent

Not even close. The new ones from auto zone are thicker and I have find mine cools allot better and makes my truck perform just a little bit better. Get the one from auto zone, you will see the difference when you put them side by side.

    M1009 Radiator, civilian equivalent

    M1009 Radiator, civilian equivalent

Yup, thanks. That info really helped, and made this project go way faster than I anticipated. I am actually really surprised this only took a day and went together so smoothly.
