What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

ke5eua, You just need to buy some of the mud chains I have for sale and call it done. Gotta love the pics! Thank U! I know, that is a lot of work to not only do the deeds but share it w/ the world via pics and blog on the web!

So, what's the one thing you'd change?

Regarding the TM section. I "think" the gent whom owns liberatedmanuals.com is a member here, "maybe" he has some input or would like to do some deeds ? :-) That guy deserves a medal in my book.

Just for chets and giggles, past a dual ALT system was briefly talked about. If the 12V horn was moved there is room for a 2nd ALT in that hole I thunk. A guy could make a platform utilizing those 2- 3/4" +/- frame bolts w/o much hassle. Then add an ALT facing backwards (so a clockwise or...

My bad one was the DS but both sides, all 4 grounds positively needed service.

Matt is it possible your TR is there but not connected? Maybe trace wires from the Equalizer? Here is what my TR looks like hooked up.

Dim Headlight Repair One headlight was dim, replaced it and still dim. I pulled the lights and cans and under it all are some electrical terminal strips and on either end there are grounds that need to ground to the body. I had rust so disassemble and a quick squirt w/ the handheld glass bead...

I see 2 tempting ALT's on Ebay sold in the past 24Hours. If you are reading this and you bought one of those for an M915 series truck good luck. Those things are TWO INCHES bigger in diameter than what is stock! If they didn't ship yet you might want to reconsider, been there, investigated...

    Department of Defense Control Coming

I just had a thought, grab some nasty looking cut up wiring harnesses and hang them dangling down w/ a few household wire nuts , stuff you should NOT use on a MV, have that stuff laying around the floorboards :-)

    Department of Defense Control Coming

I guess a guy would be wise to remove some key parts and hide them so they are less "desirable" perhaps. So instead of the inspector writing down. ALL EQUIPMENT FUNCTIONAL, instead they might write ALL EQUIPMENT INOP. ;-)

Finished my M915A1 AC Install (HMMWV Kit)

Good job! Gotta love the BENDIX Fan Clutch too! I like it better than OE. I have spares fs. But your drawing almost THIRTY Amps w/ just the A/C system off that time bomb of a 24V Transformer Rectifier. I PM'd you the link to my build thread where were trying to find a resolve.

    M916 12V Ampacity draw?

Any electric guys know this? If I wanted to see how many amps the 12V side pulls I would obviously turn on everything I could***, then grab a DC Ammeter but what wire would I put it around, the 12V #10A wire at the ALT ? I can provide a schematic if needed. *** Hazards on. Dash Fans on...

CBR Metalworks M920 hauler 'Mad Max'

CBR would that ALT fit better if a guy reworked the engine bracket, perhaps raising the ALT maybe 1/2" or so???

Interesting... So leave the OE ALT and TR alone and add a 20Amp DC UP Converter to the 12V side. Which brings me to post #109 to calc that route.

We kinda need to know the AMP draw on the 12 side yes? If I wanted to see how many amps the 12V side pulls I would obviously turn on everything I could, then grab a DC Ammeter but what wire would I put it around, the 12V #10A wire at the ALT ? Hazards on. Dash Fans on. Work lights on. Dome...

Thank You NDT, I guess if a guy could get the build plans and compare it could be nailed down. The fans suck a lot of power for sure, almost 15Amps, I think I suggested a possible solution of replacing just the Condenser fans from 24V to a 12V flavor in this thread past, with maybe a manual...

    Artisan's M916

The parts cost to replace the 24V A/C motor type parts w/ 12V equivalents is; 2- Condenser Fans 1- Blower Motor 1- Fan Clutch Coil ...is going to be about $425.00 or so w/ shipping and I searched for best pricing. The circuit breaker needs to be bigger, they recommend a 40A breaker for the...
