    new tachometer problems

Yes, that's what I had planned on doing I do have good crimp connectors and i also have the good shrink wrap with glue I will separate the light and tach feed, maybe it's that kind of a stupid problem or installer error, live and learn LOL

    new tachometer problems

That is the exact installation I did and followed the instruction. Like I said it works fine , but goes off after 45 min to an hour drive. I will bring it in the shop and re-check everything, it's a weird problem The only thing I did differently is to hook up the light and tach to the same...

    M998 silver lake sand dunes

You will love it, you can buy a Jeep or any 4X4, but nothing comes close to owning and driving an Humvee

I guess that i can also add to to the confusion, I also bought one a few months ago, finally decided decided to install it a few weeks ago, followed the instructions and hook up everything, turn the key on and I have a tachometer that works. But.... after driving around for about an hour, it...

    looking at 1993 m998 6.2 2000miles

Ok, from the devils advocate, looks good, many cosmetic upgrades, what about the mechanical aspect, I'm always weary when something is too clean, make certain that you do your due diligence, maybe bring a friend or get a second opinion from a qualified tech, or someone that has no interest...

My M998 Arrived Today (could questions)

Congrats on your purchase. The belts do dance a bit, mine have been like that for a year, the horn is located near the front diff, just crawl under and you you see it. I drive mine nearly every day, but before I did, I spent quite a few hours checking everything. The best thing to do is to...

    Humvee road trip reliability

Well, I did make it back, 55-60 for about 250 miles, it is actually a nice ride, everything worked as it should. I just need to adjust to everybody passing me, it seems they were all speeding, but 60 is slow for MI I will do the round trip (600 miles) for the fall colors, should be fun and a...

    Soft doors window "spot" removal?

I tried the PlastX with an air polisher, I used the 3' soft foam pad, take your time and do not overheat the plastic and you will get great results. Before and after pics are attached

    Reverse Lights Wiring

You don't have to remove the shifter assembly, but you should get a new rubber boot and replace the gear selector light if yours is not in good shape, look at fleabay I added some pictures of the shifter, underneath view and I also installed Rigid back up lights, much better than the cube...

    Humvee Pipe Doors

I added one more thing to the pipe doors, I was able to find 1"1/2 hat pins, they fit over the handles that I cut off. Good or bad ??

    Ignition Security

I also have the keyed ignition and added a on/off switch that is hidden and prevents the starter from turning. My best security add on is from SpyTec, it's a real time GPS tracker, I can set a a safety perimeter, so if the vehicle moves or starts or even just towed away I get a text message...

    Humvee road trip reliability

I also changed the oil in all hubs and the both diff's I replaced the oil with Lucas 80-90 Heavy Duty. I can't believe the difference in noise level, everything seems much quieter, I might be a bit crazy, but the gear noise seems to be lower, or it just might be the new oil. The old oil had...

    Humvee road trip reliability

I'm at the age were I'm pretty much done beating the crap out of my toys, pretty much trail ridding with the occasional challenge in Mid Michigan. I decided to change the oil in the hubs tonight, of course one of them has black oil compared to the other ones, nothing seem bad, so I filled it up...

    Humvee road trip reliability

Thanks guy's, I do have a dedicated tool box in the Humvee, AAA is on for the Towing, and yes plenty of fluids for us and the Humvee. I also replaced the front seat with Corbeau suspension seats, it makes for a better ride. This will be an 8 day journey or adventure, should be fun
