    Can't mod the driver

With rare exceptions military vehicles travel in groups so they can recover each other. They are built to go off road but that is not their primary function. Anytime we went to the field we always sent an Advance Party and Quartering Party to look for the path of least resistance and a good...

I want to take off the CTIS on my newly purchased 1990 M923A2

Those fittings plug the holes where the hose goes into the back side of the axle and the hole where the CTIS fitting come out on the rim side. You also have to plug the lines up under the truck that go to the manifold on top of the axle.

I want to take off the CTIS on my newly purchased 1990 M923A2

This is how I capped one axle when I had to do a swap. I got the fittings at NAPA and a hydraulic hose place.

    sliding 5th wheel hitches

Why not go to a truck salvage place and buy some sliding 5th wheel setups? They should bolt right on to the 5 ton frame rails.

    R.I.P.--TIGGER--Matthew Helms

We have often had discussions about having a "Command Retreat" on Saturday evening but it has always been shelved due to issues that pop up. I think this year it will take place. I'm sure there are enough of us old soldiers at the rally to make it the respectful and honorary event that it should...

    R.I.P.--TIGGER--Matthew Helms

I'm absolutely floored. He called the other day and we talked about the upcoming rally. He was already bubbling with enthusiasm and was excited that Joanie from Durhamtown was going to use him again as an onsite medic. He loved to do that and was very good at it. I connected with Matt on so many...

    900 series wreckers

I once owned a M816 and I'm currently babysitting a M936. I'll take the M936 hands down for ease of operation. Everything is engaged from the cab and it's a lot quieter. As Jeff said you can't do the automatic swap due to all the plumbing.

Prius pulling. A recovery of sorts.

The truth is always stranger (and usually more interesting) than fiction. Great recovery story.

    Towing M923a2 with a M923?'s

When I towed the M923 from Atlanta with the M927a2 I was running 60+ on the interstate and back roads. Check the towed truck regularly but don't let the swaying scare you. Try to hold a steady speed and leave plenty of room to escape in case of an emergency. Do not get in a position that...

is a bobbed deuce a practical daily driver?

In Texas, in the summer it would be real, real, real hot. And loud and rough riding. And use a lot more fuel than a smaller vehicle.

How to tell where my M925A2 was stationed?

Looks like it came from an Alabama National Guard unit. Read the whole article. http://readme.readmedia.com/621st-Troop-Support-Command-has-Change-of-Command-Ceremony/2208854
