    Computer Wallpaper

The new FMTV deuce and a half.....the one with three axles is the new 5 ton. I personally think they are butt ugly, too complicated and cost too much.

wrecker 816 vs 936 whitch is better

The 816 is LOUD and will suck the bottom out of the fuel tank......the M936 is geared a little higher and as memtioned has better creature comforts. My 816 was a money pit from the word go.....I'm eyeing a M936 myself. Also keep in mind that they are a much better boom truck than...

Am I having a pipe dream?

Just keep your fuel receipts in the glove box and if you get stopped you have proof that you have paid fuel tax. I do not run "alternative fuel" in my deuce......I run a "fuel additive" made from liquid flammable waste that extends the milage of the taxed fuel (diesel and gas) that I burn...

Wreckerman and Elmo to Cincy area

Ok......most of the mission has been accomplished. One trailer was delivered to Mckeeranger on the way to Cincy, two trailers, a winch, and two towbar feet were delivered to Gimpy's place this morning. On the return leg I picked up a set of cargo bows and cover from Papacom for Bighurt which...

The little bugger is still in the holding pattern.....supposed to be here next week.....that's why I'm running this mission now so I can make a trip to TN next week. Shoot me an exact LZ location and a phone number....I should be back through that way Sunday afternoon......me and Elmo will...

    Makeshift Heater Question

I would not use an open flame source while going down the road. The fumes would be toxic even though the deuce cab is not airtight. Check these folks out: 12 or 24 Volt Cab Heater 20,000 BTU You can tap into the existing hoses and have a warm safe ride without worrying about making an ash...

Deuce hard to start when hot

It could be vapor locking because the gas in the carb is getting too hot once the engine is shut off. You may need to put a heat resistant spacer between the carb and the manifold.

Picking Up an M35A2 - Need Leg Room!

I put bucket seats out of a Dodge Neon in my M109 and it rode great. I got a set cheap at a body shop that rebuilt Neons. The quick way to install buckets in a deuce is to use all thread rod (9/16ths is good). You can cut it long and use a nut and washer under the seat frame to adjust for...

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

You can get as high tech on the brakes as you want to......SS member Steve6x6x6 will convert your axles to disc brakes if you are so inclined or sell you a kit (I think) to do it yourself.

Wreckerman and Elmo to Cincy area

If anyone comes up with something that needs hauling between now and Sunday morning I will have this puter with me (I have an air card). I'll check PM's and email before I leave Gimps place Sunday morning and can make pickup(s) along the way if the item can be picked up on Sunday while enroute...

I want a different engine and transmission for my M135?

If you can find one the LDS multi-fuel has around 200 HP and will fit right in......use the gasser tranny or switch to a newer one that went behind the multi. Jumping up to 1100x20 tires will give you a few more MPH or you can single it out to 395's but it will spoil the original look...

    Crazy Mileage.

Not bad for a vehicle that has the aerodynamics of a concrete block. Be real careful with that "Redneck Cruise Control".

What are XM1117 rims ? HEMMT Rims ?

Those look like the rims used to single out the 800 and 900 series 5 tons.....they have a big offset so the hubs don't have to be flipped. If you are looking for tires and rims for a 5 ton you can prob get them mounted and ready to go from csmdavis down at Camp Shelby, MS.

    Go out and drive!!

Not only do they love to be driven but they are social creatures by nature......they are used to being in a Motor Pool with others of their kind. Get a couple of more MV's and your deuce will really be happy.

M813 from Ft Meade to Birmingham, AL

Get with a truck broker in your area and try to find a truck heading that way that is looking for a backhaul. Prob the cheapest way to do it.

    Ether Primer for Military Generators

Ether is a last resort starting method. Unless it is sub-zero any diesel engine with hot batteries, good fuel and air should start. Canned starting fluid is the same thing and a small squirt in the air intake should crank a cold diesel. If you just want one for looks there are plenty of...

Wreckerman and Elmo to Cincy area

I have my visa and will get my passport stamped when I cross the river from Kaintuck into the "Land of Northern Aggression".
