    MPG loaded, m915 vs M916 vs M920 ?

I sold a M916 to a guy that runs a wood yard and pulls a knuckle boom trailer and sometimes a chip trailer. He swapped 5th wheels and actually put smaller tires on it since he was not worried about top end. Last I heard he was happy as a dead pig in the sunshine with it.

    M35A3 Title Problems in Georgia

This is another reason I avoid the A3's. Since they went through a rebuild at an outside vendor (as opposed to being rebuilt at a military facility) they got a new VIN and were redesignated a a "new" vehicle. This makes them a lawn ornament in some states. As far as getting it registered...

    M149A2 uses

They are made for water but I have seen older ones used to store/carry used oil......I don't know if I would trust one to carry gas or diesel since they have a high center of gravity and are prone to turn turtle. Especially if hooked to Gimpy's truck.:-D

    Large Item Shipping Questions

Do you have a Class 8 CDL and valid Medical Card? Have you ever driven a Class 8 tractor pulling an overweight/oversized load? Do you know how to load and secure odd sized vehicles or equipment including how to axle out a load to avoid being too heavy on one axle? Can you safely manuver a...

What happens if I dont pay Government Liquidation?

This is what happens when the gooberment gives a contractor a monoply......they are always right and you play by their twisted rules. I had an issue with them one time and negotiated their pound of flesh down to what I considered a reasonable amount. I still had to pay for the privilege of...

    Storage Tank Cleaning

I don't mean to make this a bigger bugaboo than it is. You can clean out the tank and store the residue if you exercise due dilligence. If you store it in a protected place where the drum will not rust out or suck water in around the bung hole you can keep it indefinantly. Assuming you are...

    M36A3 Camper?

There have been several threads about making 4 door deuces.....if you don't mind modifying a somewhat rare vehicle to achive this goal I guess it is all good. One idea is to put a S-280 shelter in the back of the long bed and have a "back porch" behind the shelter.

    Storage Tank Cleaning

Transporting HAZMAT (even stuff you generate) is strictly regulated......and the cement companies will not take stuff that has not been processed by a licensed treatment facility. It has to be lab tested for metals and dioxin (hardest stuff in the world to get rid of) at each step of the...

    Storage Tank Cleaning

You would think so but the heat destroys all the petroleum and other waste products and the heavy metals are bound up in the cement so they can't leach out. I spent a lot of time at cement plants unloading fuel and had some interesting coversations with folks at different levels of the...

    Storage Tank Cleaning

I advise you to stock up on KY Jelly.......when I worked for a Hazmat disposal facility we charged $800.00 to pick up one 55 gallon drum of crud like you describe. That was eight years ago and I assume the price has not gone down. That is still cheaper than getting fined by your state...

    Vietnam vehicles

One of the Vietnam era Huey pilots that used to fly us around said they would fly stuff out over Cam Ranh Bay and drop it into the ocean to keep from giving it to the ARVN. Everything from refrigerators to trucks......it went in the drink...supposedly this was with the approval of the head...

    Cat 7155 questions

That looks like nice ride. I liked the Cats when the Army was footing the bill to repair them. The prob with owning one now is finding someone to work on them. Most Cat Dealers are not familiar with them because they had a limited civilian application. The M916 I bought to resell did...

    Antisipation of GL Auction Items

I have found that a box of doughnuts applied liberally to local GL personnel will grease the skids and buy you a lot of good will. :grd: Not that I am advocating bribery of a government representitive.

    Adventures in WMO

Tractor Supply (shameless plug) sells some great 12 volt pumps that will move a lot of liquid. Just make sure you put a strainer on the pickup tube to keep crud from getting into the pump vane. I just use a piece of screen wire hose clamped to the end of the tube. Also never pump to the very...
