That's why so many old soldiers are hard of hearing.
When I came in the Army in 72 hearing protection was not even required on the firing range.
I drove thousands of miles in deuces, 5-tons, 915/916's and other military vehicles and I now suffer from high frequency hearing loss. If there is a...
Tactical Truck
When I was at Fort Benning we convoyed 915's from there to NTC at Fort Irwin, Ca.
Before we left me and a couple of co-conspiritors turned our trucks up to 2100 rpm (400 Cummins).
We could run 75 and heard a lot of comments from the civilian truckers about "those damned Army...
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY CAR.........YOU BRUTE......OH THE HUMANITY.
Seriously, those tires must cost big bucks....is it worth risking ruining one to mash a poor little four wheeler. :?:
That being said: That's funny, I don't care who you are.
I'm all out due to the requests from New Years party goers.
I'll have to get in the truck and ride the roads to see if there is any fresh road kill (I'm too lazy to hunt).
If I find some fresh ones I'll whip up a batch as soon as I find my RONCO dehydrator.
If Freight Train gets his big Ford Dually up and running we may bring a gooseneck load of stuff to Aberdene. :driver: Once we know for sure we are going to be able to make the trip we will take orders and deliver the stuff. [thumbzup]
I was in Germany in the early 70's in a signal unit. We did not have radios in most of our vehicles. The command vehicles had them (BN cmdrs, Co cmdrs, SGM, 1st Sgts) and the radio retrans trucks had them. When we convoyed we followed the instructions of the convoy commander and had pre-arranged...
I didn't see anything that fit that description. Most of the MV's are in one area with a few exceptions. He only had two trucks that could be described as in "runnning condition", a deuce w/winch and a 5 ton wrecker.
The rest are in various states of decomposition. There are several drop side...
On my foray to Shorty's I found an interesting item.
It looked like a set of detachable duel axles for a van trailer. I have never seen anything like them.
There was no evidence of cutting so I assume that the van was lifted off of the axles with a wrecker so it could set at a lower level...
These poor metal souls are located near Crossville in central Tennessee (on the Cumberland Plateau).
I pass them when I go to visit my Mom in Jamestown.
I lived up there in 1984 and there is a lot of logging and stone harvesting and cutting in the area. My guess it that they were used in one of...
I came across these two on a Christmas day trip to Jamestown,Tn.
It looks like they could have been used in the logging business.
I thought the rim might be of interest, not one I have seen.
An ignoble end to heavy green metal.
If anyone is interested in a rescue mission...
Those 6k forklifts are DA BOMB. We had several in an ammo unit I was in at Ft. Benning.
We had a bozo battalion commander that was gay for foxholes....everytime we went out in the field we were digging foxholes with entrenching tools. :cookoo:
I designed and built a spade that attached to the...
You may be aware of this but if not here it is FYI.
Get the oil before it goes into the renderer's grease bin.
If you take it out of their container you are commiting theft and a lot of renderers are filing charges if they catch you.
It may seem like a waste product to you but to...
The Chemical Shelter trailers I have (that are still for sale....hint, hint) all have these legs. I think it was to keep them from counterbalancing due to the weight of the equipment that was loaded on the rear of the trailer by a self-loading device.
I don't remember many of the trailers I...
The truck is indeed in "Sweet Home Alabama".
I'm too gimped up to go very far.
Fort McClellan (now inactive) and Anniston Army Depot have been here for many years. There are MV's all over the place. It's like a treasure hunt, once you start looking for MV's you find them in all kinds of places...
Also check out Frybrid.com. They seem to have a lot of ready to drop in systems. I used to hang out at that forum a lot but since I don't have a diesel vehicle yet I haven't been there in a while. There were a lot of complaints about long delivery times. Just my 2cents .
My photos of the interior data plates did not turn out very good but they were there. I don't remember if it said "Pipeline Truck" in there or not.
The guy is a hard working farmer and I probably won't disturb him again unless there is very serious interest in the truck. As I stated, he will not...
I managed to drag my gimpy butt over to look at the "2 1/2 ton military truck" that was advertised in the local buy/sell rag.
It is an actual pipeline deuce. There is a data plate on the bed behind the cab.
It has two winches and the boom poles are still there. The bed has wood on the deck that...
