I've only worked on my Deuce' a few times in ways that required loostening bolts, but, if they're anything like most US-built cars I work on from the same time period (60's and 70's) the most common bolt sizes are going to be on the order of 3/8'' 7/16'' 1/2'' 9/16'' and 5/8'' You may get the...
Warren
the 96CR stands for 96th Regional Readiness command based in Salt Lake City with command over Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, the Dakotas and Montana, the 379EN does indeed mean engineering battallion, more info here

Well, the trip was a success, look for more pics when I get back from work tonight, in the meantime, enjoy the teaser...

Well, we're all set, I'm posting from my Dad's place as we just did "pre flight" on the deuce. Brake fluid was topped off, all fittings were greased, oil checked, and I got to see the new goodies we got for the truck while I was away
We got a new wiper motor for the passenger's side, the old...
Thanks for all your help guys, looking back at pictures of our truck again, and using info from Army S-4,
here's our trucks correct number
99C-R402QM-HQ4X (the last number of the truck's convoy number is still unredable, but really not super-important)
99th regional readiness command, 402nd...
Oh, I don't know, I think it's quite therapeutic/humorous to watch people who don't know any better blow cash on stuff you know you can get for pennies :D
Thanks for the info! I'll have to go back and see if I can decipher the partialy-destroyed lettering on our truck, like I said, I think they all came from the same group of trucks. Scrounging though my archives, I've fround 3 partial pictures, that together I've been able to piece together as...
We just got a spray gun and enough CARC-imitation paint to redo our deuce, and since we'll be stenciling it up after that, I'm going back into research to try and find out more about our truck's history or at least creating a convincing fabrication that's "close enough"
I found some old pics...
We were looking at one that a private seller was selling in Ohio, but it had been sitting in the woods for a while, and the bows and planks on it looked rotten in the pictures, so we jumped all over this one when we noticed that no one else seemed to be bidding on it
And said we have to plan a road trip for the deuce to pickup somthing he just won for us......

Oh, and for those of you playing at home, we have about 3-4 weeks left before car showtime.
It's gonna be close, but we can do it
We've done 8% grades in our Deuce' without ever touching the brake, kept the shifter in 4th over the top, and then alternated between that and 3rd as the grade fluctuated on the way down. Didn't have to touch the brakes untill we hit a 200 degree hairpin at the bottom.
It's like driving a...
Super clean truck there
Looks exactly like the first one Dad and I looked at, it had the convoy lights too, but we passed on it because either 2nd or 3rd gear was broken, and we wanted a running driving truck
Our flasher unit also went bad, killing our turn signals, you can get a new one, made by the same company that made the original from Saturn Surplus (or probably any other good surplus guy) and install it in 5 minutes. One plug connector and 2 screws Much easier than trying to retro-fit somthing
You'll also get sparks, and lots of them, if you accidentaly should be tightening the clamp on one battery with a wrench, and accidentaly touch the other end of that very wrench to a terminal on the OTHER battery...... :)
That was an experience and a half :)
