Hey guys! The crane is now functional and more awesome in person that I could have imagined. Now that I have it working, and the truck is tooling around... I need to get myself some gear so that I can load up some good stuff and haul it around! I need some advice... WHat does the military...
Gents,
I am in process of draining and replacing fluids. I can not find any specs in the TMs for the type of fluid required for the transfer case or axles. I found volume... But not a fluid spec.
I am assuming a gear oil for the axles? Would the transfer case be a heavy weight oil, or...
Here is the OUT position on my valve... Is that enough throw? Stalls the motor every time I pull it. Also, a light goes on for manual disengage of hydraulics in the cab.
So, the change over valve seems to move freely. How much movement should I have on this? I am guessing it moves out about half an inch to change over. Is that adequate?
Also, is there a way to test the auto throttle?
Thanks!!
Gents,
I finally have the LVS coupled to the MK-17 RBU. It runs and drives just fine. When parked, sitting at idle, and I pull the hydraulics lever out to provide power to the RBU and the engine strains and stalls. I did this twice with the same result. I even tried giving the engine more...
I am on my way to the DMV soon.... Just got the LVS running and connected to the RBU. A few glitches and hopefully street legal in the next week. Hoping the State isn't too difficult on titles here!
i was outbid in NC. The rig with the MK18A1 was pretty cherry.. jumped about 10k in the last 15 minutes of the auction. I stopped looking at 28,600. Still a good price. Hope it is going to a good home, cuz it's not coming here! LOL
Actually - NO. Haggerty will specifically not insure these things. Collector car insurance requires the vehicle to be 19 years of age or greater. Unless you can document that your truck was built prior to '93, you will have to obtain COMMERCIAL insurance on this beast. Just been around the...
Enlighten me...
Can someone help figure out what these items are for? My guess is they work with one of the RBUs, but I can't seem to determine what they are for...
ABSOLUTELY... But is it really worth the $22k price tag? Plus shipping?? That would be $25k to my door on that one. Wow. I like it and would love to add one to the lot, but I just can't justify it...
Anyone watch the insanity on GL today??? Jumped from $5k to over $22k for the 5th wheel RBU for the Oshkosh MK48.
Nice units, but that is just ridiculous! Ouch.
Received my spare tire and a few goodies today... OMG that was a workout to get the spare tire in place on the MK48 (and I was using a forklift!!). How the heck do they swap tires in the field???
Hmm... They don't seem to like vehicles under 19 years of age as collector vehicles.
They do say if you have others that they would be interested in adding it to a larger policy. Looks like I might be getting new quotes on my Unimogs!! :)
I'm looking at the JC Taylor website.. They have "Antique" and "Modified" classes for insurance... How exactly would you classify a 1997 Oshkosh MK-48??
