Any modern parts for an Mep-002 tank?

I would measure the size and compare to some of the universal fuel cells available. Most have provisions for gauge sending units and connection options.

    MEP803a Saves The Day

Pretty much the same deal here. Bought the 803 after Hermine hit us last year. We were not out as long as you were with this storm but enjoyed having power as soon as we needed it. I have actually logged about 40 hours in non storm related outages since I brought mine online. I don't even unplug...

    MEP % load gauges

When I first tested my unit it had a voltage drop only on L1 even with an even load applied. The higher the load the more the voltage dropped. L1 would drop from 123 to 111 under full load. I cleaned and recrimped a lot of connections and retested. It started similar then as I applied more load...

    -803A Fuel Filler Screen

I would try spray gumout carb cleaner.

    MEPs and Hurricane Irma

My wife has been bragging how we never missed a hot shower, tv show, or internet while the power lines were dead. She goes a step too far when she tells people I would be a good generator consultant. We weren't out that long but managed to keep it loaded and baked 5 dozen cookies after we ran...

    MEP % load gauges

This is why I did THIS. A 40 amp resistance load was reading 110% on my old load gauge. 52 amps would peg it. Those that have a working panel they don't want to modify should look at lonesouth's adaptation of these. He mounted them in a panel behind the storage door.

    Generators at GL ?

I bought my unit just a couple months after Hurricane Hermine. Mine isn't perfectly straight and had a forklift gouge with 2600 hours on the clock. I had overlooked the gouge and figured that was why I got it so low. I was focused on the engine and generator head pics which were much cleaner...

    Generators at GL ?

People have gone fool ass crazy on these 803 auctions. Was watching a couple on GP and 1 sold for 5 grand the the other went north of 6. I'm sorry but that is just lunacy IMO to spend that much on a used generator that hasn't been run under load and guaranteed to work. These were single units...

    MEP803A part question

Russ, O'Rilley Auto Parts sells Gates Fuel hose in 1/8" that will work fine and probably outlast that crappy continental stuff that came on it. The 1/8" (3.2mm) is part number 27000 and the 1/4" is 27002. You can cut the 1/4" lines off the rail and use regular hose and clamps on those. You will...

    MEPs and Hurricane Irma

Just turned the clothes dryer back on and the oven. Reading 42 amps load so that should clean it up some. Ran out of laundry to do so we are going to bake cookies.

    My MEP-803a experience

Did you get the drum connected? Mine has been on 9 hours and the fuel gauge remains just under the full mark with aux connected. I haven't gone out to survey but we just had tropical storm force winds here so I think it's not too bad.

    MEPs and Hurricane Irma

Having trouble keeping a significant load on during use. Everything builds up to pressure or temperature and cycles off. I will probably need to connect the load bank after power returns and run my unit under full load for a while.

    MEPs and Hurricane Irma

I have mine on a monthly test cycle. I run it for an hour or two with a 40 amp load once a month. Yesterday was it's scheduled test but I had already done it last Thursday in anticipation of this storm. I use the calendar in my cell phone to remind me of test days. You can create an event and...

    MEPs and Hurricane Irma

Power went off here at 6:30. 803A is humming along and wife is in the shower. As soon as she is done I will turn the water heater back on and check the current draw. Our water heater has two 4500 watt elements but I don't know if they run in unison. Edit: I googled dual element water heater...

    My MEP-803a experience

It isn't any cheaper having it delivered either. BUT it is worth it to me not to have to haul cans. My 87 gallon delivery on Thursday came out to $2.59 per gallon after sales tax. they don't charge road tax but unless you are a farm for profit they charge sales tax. If I were to have one drum...

    My MEP-803a experience

I wouldn't go with anything other than an oil drum. Mine were one time use motor oil so no clean out was needed.

Fuel and Temp Gauges went wonky

I found my existing gauge has a connection problem inside on the ground. Cleaned all the connections and that didn't fix it but can twist the post the ground wires are on and it will start working.

    MEP-803A For Post-Hurricane Temp Power?

Same here. After all the flooding in Texas you might want to have it as high as possible if your area is prone to that. I put mine on the ground but I have property up hill from a swampy area.

    Generators at GL ?

Good to see another track addict on here. Haven't gone wheel to wheel but have autocrossed since the 70s and done some track days. http://www.youtube.com/user/sandyman099/videos

    Generators at GL ?

Not necessarily. Although I see way too many units going above what I would pay I got mine for $975 before fees shortly after starting the search. Had a running unit nearby I was considering for $1800 before I won the bid on the unit I bought. It took a little learning and some time and...
