When dismantling the rear brake hoses in prep to install new rear axle..... one air hose port on passenger rear most brake can was filled with a nest? Funny thing is the brakes seemed to being working fine...
Set up axle for temporary storage before taking pics... hence the shrink wrap.
in reading lube charts it calls for less Lube (gear oil) in the MTV 6x6's Intermediate axle than in the LMTV axle. The Intermediate axle has this big arse secondary gear box attached to it sooooo.... only way that made sense to me would be:
1. there is separate oil fill port and sump for the...
Got the new rear Intermediate axle temporary bolted in. Tweaking things for best overall alignment of drive shaft tranny to powerdivider.
Ran into something my fabricator is finding odd.... In all his experience from standard one ton trucks to race car chassis building... the straight line...
in a not perfect world to balance out the high speed gears (oxymoron) in order to get a happier engine cruise rpm; yet not cause other issues down the road, going to 49's would be great compromise.... butt they are fading away and not reasonably available (reasonably is the key..... cost has...
just saw this on Exped. Portal. The poster has career experience with large truck's so it's possibly not a random internet "truth with no validity"

someone mentioned that with locker its little harder swapping tires on locked axle cause you cant use the easy way to align the ctis bolt with the wheel about to go on (you just spin the hub in a no locker truck)... saw the below advertised at harbor freight. This might work to make life...
if your wanting something to exercise your Mog and get paid a little $$ for your time hit me up. Need to cut a road thru heavy brush around 2 and 1/4 sides of my one acre property. Would rather share my funds with a Mog (or brother of- SEE) and better yet a veteran.
besides I love seeing...
Front axle on this truck was so sweet at one point in its life... it needed no shims.... but ..... that won't last forever and may need them this go around (almost got that far while doing the high speed 3rd conversion' then like pointman discovered needing the 2 axle seals per side.. grrrr...
One of those stupid questions.... feel free to roll eyes.
> with parking air brake on; both front AND rear wheels should lock right?
> with air drained from tanks..... both front and rear brakes should lock right?
> if front does not lock in either scenario then they are caged?
Previous post placed in another thread...... moving here to not hijack the other.
Pulling whole hub and shafts as a single assembly should save time..... Yet like everything there is advantage and disadvantages. Doing it the more typical way by disassembly of each front hub opens opportunity...
so not to hijack another's thread..... starting thread here.
Am puting former ambulance box on back of mine for habitat. Going 24v in habitat for consistency such as using the habitat battery bank to keep truck battery OEM wired bank topped up. Also my cab AC (actually a liquid chiller) is 24v...
engine mounts CAT or StSt
saw engine mount question elsewhere and it got me thinking... (yeah I know...... dangerous thing) but are they CAT or StSt? Im thinking maybe both? CAT all the way down to bottom of rubber engine mount.. and chassis riser being StSt? Granted it could be the...
considering a set of 49's I saw to mate with my high speed 3rds. to get a final engine rpm at cruise speed. they are getting harder to find than hens teeth. seeking more detail.... they may not be worth shiat (if have old date code for example) ... buttt.... if they are???
would they be...
came across this and figured it might help folk out... shows the "official" method of measuring and calculating for spacers needed for backlash

so if anyone is in OR.... check these folk out and report back for everyone.

since so much of these trucks is commercial..... wonder if the port used for accessing ecu is possibly somewhat common commercial too?
NOTE!!!! For OEM look and quality product; Awesomeness is looking into producing a great product for door handles.... see https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?180261-Who-needs-interior-door-handles
sounds like it is probably stronger in the long run than the below proposals and would be...
other threads had me seeking some learning tools. Figured this might help other folk too.

doing a head count on whom would be interested in stainless steps under the doors. Not fancy shiny kitchen stuff... but paintable stainless... Piece of mind to no longer have rust issues to concern with in that area anymore as the steps just get bombarded with everything right from the tire...
