My torque converter/brake light switch is messed up. Did Ohm checks on both and got erratic results.... While I'm waiting for a new one is there any bad, damaging effects if the torque converter lockup doesn't unlock when you hit the brakes? Wondering if I can still drive it or just let it sit...
Excluding the Camoteksystems box, I was wondering if HMMWV's with the 400amp alternator would use any special or distinct smart start box and tsu. My M1123 A2 came with a 400amp alternator so I assume it has the upgraded wiring, etc. as you can't pass 400amps through the control box? Is this...
Warhorse... I've posted that my truck is about 1/4" retarded and I was a bit concerned. I bought the tools to loosen the bolts and move the IP. I moved to to line up the marks.... Started it and it ran like crap and sounded like someone was banging on the side of a steel dumpster with a hammer...
I have a 2000 M1123 with the 4L80E four speed transmission. Is there anyway to use the 80mph speedometer from ECV's? Are there any other options for Speedo's that go above 60mph and still retain the original look. Thanks.

Interesting internal military survey of hmmwv mechanic's. Issues they face, problem parts, maintenance issues, service issues, etc. Worth a quick once over. Start on about page 40.... that's where the feedback responses start from the different...
Tobash, you nailed it. Many switches can be turned on and off, BUT were they designed to function as such. At work it was discovered that some electricians were using the disconnect levers on 200 and 400 Amp circuit breakers as "on and off" switches... Bad idea. Much better in install a...
Coug, did you remove the idler arm? If so, did it come out OK or was it a pain? On my old 998 I tried using all the normal tools and neither the pitman or idler would budge. Finally had to take it to a heavy truck shop and they got them out... I was wondering if it fought you very much.
Yes it has to pass through engine/trans cooler which inhibits airflow to the coolant radiator thus reduces cooling. The air passing through the engine/trans cooler is preheated before reaching the coolant radiator. I never said this was a "problem". Simply reducing obstruction to airflow to the...
I'm only looking at the potential to allow more cooling so maybe the truck runs in the 200-205 degree range instead of 220-225 range. Can't see how that could be a bad thing. Still hot enough to operate normally.
