Back in the Spring I actually talked to an Indiana ham on 51 MHz using a Tesla RF-10 with about one Watt. That was fun, for about 1 minute then poof he was gone!
Maybe he is suggesting a subgroup of SS who actually have coax and a radio hooked to their antenna? :-)
I think an on-the-air net would be fun but the way the bands have been.....forget it, unless low power on 75 meters is your idea of fun!
Thanks for the effort George. Good info.
BTW, the 3116 is a high vibration engine, IMHO, that does not need assistance from the driveline to shake off parts. Has anyone else had trouble keeping an oil pan in place? One of mine had wear marks around all the bolts where the pan was jittering...
Looking at just the numbers, if your cost to buy this truck initially, plus the new engine, plus the labor (which will probably go up) is much more than the cost of another running truck, then buying another truck wins the contest. Then part out the failed one to recover some bucks. Being so...
One trick for supporting the starter is to suspend it by bungee rope (Like Bungee cord material). Use enough rope to lift the starter. The stretch of the rope will allow you to maneuver the starter. Be sure to tie a loop of good rope or a ratchet strap tightly around the starter so the...
The Solargizers work a little differently from what you might think. They require battery voltage to operate their electroncs! So, that 24 v unit might not work on a 12v battery (what you are doing if the solargizer is hooked up to only one 12v battery). Or, you could have a bad Solargizer...
Pulling a bog harrow
This area was a heavily eroded and grown up ditch. The ditch was 8 ft deep in places and has been there 80 years or more. I have been clearing, contouring, and prepping to turn it into pasture to control the erosion.
The job today was to continue pulling around a bog...
Unless there is a shunt for the amp meter, right? I don't know that vehicle. If there is a shunt, just remove the meter wires and isolate them. In general, if wires at meter are small, theres a shunt.
Never installed it because the near-view is restricted by the vent. I had picked up another LMTV and it had the vent, and I didn't like it, so it came out. Want one? :-) Note that newer (or modified) vents are see-through but those get dirty so don't help much.
It really is a simple job as FloridaAKM said. Summary: Jack up cab to get it out of the way and take weight off the "yoke". Disconnect the air line behind the air bag housing. Remove the four bolts/nuts at the top of the housing, and 4 bolts/nuts at the bottom. Lift the end of the yoke up...
The bags are available from Ohio Hydraulic:
PP 997900
Power Packer
$209.55 when I bought my last one
I have rebuilt 3 recently and thats not a bad price. Reuse the frame and shock absorber.
My dash voltmeter in the LMTV dropped from 'correct' to 'not correct' on a trip. Turning off the truck indicates the 'not correct' reading is same as powered off. The voltmeter is dead.
Just as a sanity check, the voltage was checked at alternator output, and is good. Tested at 24 v terminal...
