    FLU-419 - Instrument Cluster In-op

You may have inspired me to take another look at my over charging issues - before the snow starts falling.

That sounds like it's working like it should. You'll see about 14 on a 12 Volt system, and 28 on a 24 Volt system. In contrast, with the Winter SEE, after having a cup of coffee while the oil pressure gauge catches up, I rev it just enough to make the charging kick on (and I'm sure you meant...

    FLU-419 - Instrument Cluster In-op

Sorry, can't offer any advice here. But for what it's worth, the charging issue on my Winter SEE has improved, all by itself. Just like many other ailments on the FLUs, come to think of it. I think the lesson to be learned is that if I leave well enough alone, it gets better.

These new posts, combined with my conscience, made me fire up the Winter SEE and move some dirt today. It's been on my mind for a while, because it hasn't been started up since the snow blower came off in...what, March? Much to my delight, the air pressure gauge still showed 60 psi, and it...

    Slow oil pressure 406 / 419

I think the common idling of diesels is due to over-the-road trucker idling during the night in years past, either to run the heater or the A/C. Can't remember how bad it is for them, but at least on OTR tractors the rings aren't even meant to seal at idle. That's a lot of fuel and crap going...

    Slow oil pressure 406 / 419

Phil, it may be taking it to the extreme, but I don't cold start an engine if I can help it. I'll push, pull, tow, whatever it takes, if a vehicle needs to be moved. If it gets started, it'll get driven until the fluids are up to temp. That's different from letting it idle for 15 minutes...

    New FLU419 Owner, Electrical Woes

Uh, oh. I'd managed to forget about FLU electrical ailments. Yes, the Winter SEE still wants to over charge, but it's become second nature to wiggle the main power cut-off key until it shapes up. Hopefully someone with more recent knowledge/better memory will chime in.

It does look like the front axle is on the bump stops. and the rear suspension extended a bit. Simple physics at work.

    Jeez, that's already a screaming deal, impulse787.

I remembered correctly, sort of. The 22' is without extending the boom. And it looks like they're measuring from where the hook attaches, not at the hook itself.

If memory serves me, max height/reach is 22 feet. Of course, at max extension the stated capacity is only 2,000 lbs. And I need to go look at the decal and see if that's max height, or the height of the hook. Stay tuned.

Flu419 front hydraulic system normal pressure?

Tarek, if my notes on the old belts are correct, the pump is 9440, the P/S is 9350, and the water/alternator is 9670.

    leaky cylinders

Can't help you with that, James, but do keep the basics in mind; leave a bit extra to accommodate movement at any bends, and don't forget to take into account how much shorter the hoses get when under pressure. The latter almost came back and bit me when I ran the hoses for the snow blower from...

    Running backwards?

No, I didn't, since it wasn't exactly an expected situation. But thankfully the car behind me, a VW bug, was close enough that I avoided hitting the gas cap with my private parts. Had to think quickly on that one, but convinced the bug's driver that he had hit me, since I didn't have a Reverse...

You can get the gauge from the manufacturer. They're not exactly the same anymore, but obviously still serve the purpose.

    Running backwards?

Another was my first motorcycle, a 2-stroke. Naturally I had to mess with the timing on it, and just as naturally I was ready to take off like a bat out of ****, sitting first at a stoplight. Much to my surprise, instead of gloriously taking off, I ended up hitting the car behind me.

    FLU419 Snow Plow

Sorry, been out of town for a while. Got the 'blower from Skid Pro, but can't remember why I went with theirs over whatever else is out there. Any low-flow Bobcat style should work, as long as it's not overly large. Other than running the wiring for the chute (and, of course, the hydraulic...

Unimog FLU 419 needing a clutch

I would try putting a good additive into the pump, through the injector lines, before removing anything.

You gave me a good idea. Or let's call it an idea for now. If I pour a bunch of that stale gas down a centrally located prairie dog hole, then light it, I could have those darn sod poodles shooting out of a dozen holes. Probably to quickly to use the trusty .22, so a shotgun may be more...
