Concerning balancing the load, not an issue IMHO. The other side of the truck has the big batteries, the drop-box of the transmission, both drive shafts, and both diffs. There's so much excess capacity on the LMTV, why worry.

Most FMTV's sold on GP have no more than 15k to 20k miles. Many have less than 10k miles. Has anyone seen a high mileage FMTV? What about those still in service (question for you active-duty guys/gals)?

Check your manual for output specs on your hydraulic system. You may find it is not 32 gpm. With hydraulics that's not a show stopper because lower flow can still do the job. You should verify the hydraulic output of the SEE/419 and match the motor to that output. You probably won't get 43...

Sounds to me you got the right truck! A bent driveshaft on these trucks could lead to other problems (based on the havoc original shafts caused). Any miles spent driving an LMTV (or your other favorite vehicle) adds time to your life!
Knoxville Airport and the adjoining Air base hosted an air show this past weekend. Several of us from Knoxville Military Vehicle Club set up on Thursday and participated all weekend. Great fun doing the static display but the air show was fantastic, Blue Angels and all.
No doubt you are correct. What is your engine rpm at full throttle? Speed at that rpm? Whatever the rpm, at WOT and max speed of 55 for a normal truck, Georges will be at 110 theoretically.
If your truck is going 40 at 1800, then 55 mph would be 2475, calculated. Is that close?
