Almost ready to start pushing dirt now. Need to drill out the holes (don't laugh, I drilled two so far and it's a bi*#c) on the snow pusher to accept standard cutting edge bolts, then cut and weld two short Cat cutting edges to get the correct length and bolt spacing. Between the dozer blade...

FLU419 stuck in 4-wheel mode, not engaging in differential lock

The actual max air pressure seems to be all over the map on FLUs, so I guess that you could pretend that yours was set higher. Still, since turning the switch on and off should basically accomplish the same thing as adding air from an external source, you could sit in the seat and hope that the...

FLU419 stuck in 4-wheel mode, not engaging in differential lock

Sorry, I forgot all about checking diff locks today. Got caught up in a celebratory mode after removing a loader, removing a blade, and installing that blade, all without killing myself. Or even bleeding much. Anyway, I would be very hesitant to throw more pressure into the axle(s). Leaving the...

I'm happy to report that the SEE's bad visibility and heavier steering is at least partially restored. Used the crane to remove, move, and install the blade...and had to use the front suspension's lockout system to compress the front suspension. Otherwise the outriggers wouldn't quite clear the...

I'd suggest that you also bring eye protection and sun screen.

Extended Brake Lines for 2in Lift??

Not knowing if your current hoses are the OE length, the best may be to support the vehicle's frame on jack stands, letting the axle droop. Measure the available slack, then add a few inches for articulation. Is there enough length left for an additional two inches?

I have almost a dozen extinguishers in the garage, Ahab, so you don't need to bring one. Besides, I prefer Halon, Halonite, etc. as they don't make a mess.

Beware Home Depots Forklift Drivers !

Did the forklift driver work for GP at some point?

You better not wait too much longer. I'm getting closer to having most of the SEE related stuff done. Of course, the actual operational part, which you may be most interested in, is about to start soon. Hopefully next week. In an ideal world, your visit would coincide with having someone here...

FLU419 stuck in 4-wheel mode, not engaging in differential lock

No, I can try the 4WD and locker functions while driving and turning. Not that I'd want to do it on dry pavement, of course. At least to me, it's very easy to tell if 4WD is engaged since the steering feels different and there are new (tire slipping) sounds and a different feel associated with...

1" zero rates and 32x12.50s... Any rubbing?

I agree with those who feel that the tires should fit, but to be sure, what are the actual dimensions of the tires in question? Since we know the size of the fender opening, and the width and offset of the wheels, the only missing numbers are those of the tire. With that knowledge and a tape...

If you want laughs, come on over and watch my trials and tribulations trying to make progress on my various projects. I'll supply the camping chair (I'm sure I have one somewhere) and you can sit and watch with a cool one in hand - if you promise to call 911 or drive me to the clinic when...

FLU419 stuck in 4-wheel mode, not engaging in differential lock

Hmm, good question. The lockers did work last winter, but that doesn't mean they do now. I need to look at that figure 139 and see if it looks like something I'd understand (I'm a Detroit Locker kinda guy, not overly familiar with air lockers - other than having participated in numerous air...

I learned to weld with stick, but haven't used a buzz box in a long time. Failed miserably at my first attempt with a TIG, so it's almost always MIG these days. The weather is good, except for being hot (83) and humid (34) here in the real Midwest, thank you. No afternoon thunder/showers today...

Whipped up a stand for the loader today, and when looking for suitable jacks I found two of the normal crank style (came as rear supports jacks for a trailer) and that made me remember a short Hi-Lift which also has the tube and pin style "mount". As a bonus, the Hi-Lift had the short piece of...

SEEs come with 12.5R20 Michelins, which in my opinion shouldn't be used in the same sentence as performance. Off or on the pavement.

FLU419 stuck in 4-wheel mode, not engaging in differential lock

The wheels will turn in opposite directions with an open diff since there's less friction and resistance in the diff than upstream from the pinion. After you prior post I wondered if there's a way to "poke" the locking mechanism manually, freeing things up a bit quicker, but never did look up an...

    404s losing power

Not knowing the 404, can you reach the distributor while driving? I've found cab over vehicles handy in that respect, as you can top off fluids and make adjustments while driving. If being able to grab the distributor from the driver's seat is sketchy, maybe you can enlist a helper? Either way...

1" zero rates and 32x12.50s... Any rubbing?

It really shouldn't matter which of the three options you pick. The tire will still be the same size when the suspension compresses to the bump stops.

What?!? Is the forklift operator on vacation? Or maybe he's had eye surgery?
