You can always put smaller wheels/tires on it to help lower it down, and there are threads on here on how to lower it further with some modifications. Standard 8x6.6 lug pattern I believe, which was pretty common back in the day. Overall a nice trailer, but overkill for this job unless you're...
Yeah, and good luck getting any warranty support out there in the middle of nowhere.
All the modern stuff has so many electronics that they are a pain in the butt to do any work on without the correct manuals and in some cases software, not to mention you're unlikely to even find them in this...
If noise isn't as big of a concern then the MEP-003 is also a good choice. Being an air cooled diesel there is even less to go wrong with it than the 80X series.
That is fine, but if you have a source for where this comes from I would actually like to see/read it, as it is contrary to everything I have ever heard.
All an engine does it turns heat energy into movement energy. In a diesel engine it turns it into rotating mass. I'm just not understanding...
The inverter output can surge up to 8kw, but what does it say about max input? If the generator is going to be a separate charger than the solar setup, you can size the charger according to the generator, as your battery bank should be more than big enough to handle any charge either the 802 or...
That isn't exactly how it works.
The 4 cylinder engine isn't going to be using the same amount of fuel in each cylinder as the 2 cylinder engine for identical overall power output with everything else being equal. The 4 cylinders are producing half the power output each of the 2 cylinders...
Not sure about this "double the fuel use" deal. At full load (5kw) the 802 burns 1/2 gallon per hour. At full load the 803A (10kw) burns a gallon. At half load the 803A will burn just slightly more than the 802, simply because it has more mass to keep spinning, but it's certainly not double...
Where did you find that a keyed switch kills the smartbox?
If used properly it's no different than just pulling off the negative battery cable.
The only way that I could see it causing an issue with the smart box is if you turn they key off while the vehicle is still running, which can cause a...
Have you used a multimeter to see if the switch is open or closed?
And have you checked to see if there is even voltage at the switch when the system is turned on?
I'd imagine the switch is probably normally open, and remains open at low pressure. It is closed as long as there is enough...
Not the only failure of a coolant tank
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/coolant-overflow-tank-fail.145735/page-2
picture from post 26 of that thread
So somehow the TACOM brand can make and sell them at 1/3 the cost of any other U.S. manufacturer/seller?
I checked the Amazon listing for the tank.
First it says "Country/Region of Manufacture: United States"
Then later is states "Non-Domestic Product: Yes"
So it's a U.S. made product that...
So just putting this information out there in case anyone else needs it.
My truck is an M1123 with the 6.5 engine and serpentine belt setup. It has the Sanden compressor for the RedDot aircon in it. That part is probably important, as the belt length does not match what the manual says it...
If you are pairing it to a specific trailer, make sure you change the bulbs in it to multi-voltage LEDs so they will run of 12 or 24V the same, otherwise you'll either blow the 12V bulbs when hooked to the HMMWV, or you'll have extremely dim bulbs when hooked to 12V and using 24V bulbs.
If all...
Yup, very true. I assume that's why more people with older trucks don't do the upgrade.
Not that very many of us in the civilian world really NEED 5kw of electrical generation, but occasionally it's nice (like the 1kw inverter in my BEOD that I can run power tools off of)
Unless something isn't properly tightened, or something is worn out (like a bushing or ball joint or something) then alignment shouldn't really change.
Keep in mind the 3k mile check is primarily for trucks in the military, where you get boneheaded privates seeing just how badly they can abuse...
60 amp is bolted to the back of the assembly, not a separate assembly (and a heck of a lot cheaper to replace)
TrailworthyFab sells them for about $260 shipped for a used one. Looking around, new ones are in the $500+ range.
On the 200 amp the regulator is external to the generator, just a big...
I just bought one of the smaller tube style H1 brush guards.
It won't work on the A2 HMMWV without modification. The place where it bolts to the truck is where the teardrop shackles are at the end of the frame rails. Looking at the top picture, it looks like it's probably the same mount place...
If you spent less than about $250 on the expansion tank, there is a 99% chance it was a chinese import, and those are known to have major issues.
Mine was cracked when I bought my truck (with only 32 miles on it) and at the time an OEM tank was about the same price as an aftermarket aluminum...
replaced the faulty voltage regulator in my truck (200 amp system)
Part took almost 3 weeks to get here from when I ordered it, and Fedex couldn't make up their mind (6 different emails with shipping updates).
A whole 30 minutes after it got here truck was up and running again (and only took...
Yup, I'll admit I'm mildly confused.
So either you have a neutral/ground bond in the generator or you have it at the service entry breaker.
I mean, I know it isn't so much of a problem because the neutral and ground only have to be bonded in one location, what I don't get is why you are...
