    Fan Solenoid replacement

I'm looking at the different parts websites, the 998A0/A1 6.2/6.5 detuned thermostat is rated at 190 (fully open) and the A2 trucks are 190F or 195F, so the fact that your truck is getting up to those temps leads me to believe the thermostat is functioning properly. The first few hundred miles...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

So now with everything back together, was going to drive the truck out to a job today. Up to this point I occasionally had the charging system flake out on me during startup. It would barely show starting to charge then stop (the needle would move up to the green briefly between two pulses of...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

There are a bunch of M1123s that ended up not being used and have been getting auctioned off. The tag on it says the truck had 26 miles when it went through rebuild, and it had 32 when I bought it (so actually only 6 miles on it after rebuild) Going by the condition of everything, other than...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

So got the parts I needed in this morning. Worked for a few hours to get everything put back together. Well, that was after I had to take it further apart first. To get the oil filter adapter off you have to disconnect the driveshaft from the front and remove the bolts for the intermediate...

    M998 Electrical Questions / Problems

    1) So the wiper motor has contacts under the windshield that are notorious for bad connections. Fold the windshield down and clean the connections. Some people use a small washer or similar in there to create more pressure on the connection. 21V is too low, you should see full battery...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Now I really want to know what's in the mystery bag (only thing I did have on that list other than the wiper arms was the CDR valve, because mine was before they started butchering the DWF parts) Luckily wiper arms seem to be universal with jeeps and some other vehicles, so you can get some...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Mine didn't have any cushions or seat bases, just the seat back that doubles as the floorboard when laid down. If it's like my truck was, there will be a lot of random 1/2" bolts, nuts, and washers, as well as a few brackets and plates left over from when they removed the MAK (Marine Armor Kit)...

3 phase power distribution for field operations

It's tempting, but I really hate dealing with having to ship stuff, especially truck freight.

    Fan Solenoid replacement

There is still always the chance it is defective or something causing it to stick open, so removing it to verify it's opening temps is still advisable.

    Fan Solenoid replacement

It will only disconnect the fan when pressure is built up in the system, the only way to really check with the engine running is use something like a 2x4 to GENTLY rub against the fan to see if it slows it down. Even with pressure in the system and the clutch disengaged the fan is going to...

3 phase power distribution for field operations

The ones you just posted are the only TMs I have related to it. Not that concerned at the moment, my only generator is an MEP-802 so not like I have an actual use for it right now. Mostly I bought it because for that price, I got a nice set of new ground rods for cheap, with the box thrown in.

    Fan Solenoid replacement

How are you verifying this temp? The inside gauges are notoriously inaccurate, so if that's all you're looking at you need to get a laser temp to verify. Plus you said you just installed a new thermostat. I'd go back, verify with a laser thermometer on the coolant hose what the temp is...

3 phase power distribution for field operations

Thanks for the manuals. I actually just picked up one of these power distribution boxes 2 weeks ago. It looks like it's never been used, and had the ground rods and plastic wrench with it as well. According to the sticker from govplanet, the government paid nearly $34k for these things.

    Windshield install

Not everyone requires sealant. The main reason for the sealant is that not every piece of glass with gasket forms a leakproof seal when installed. I know mine had a lot of water coming in from the center pillar (lots of big bubbles when driving at any speed, and water sloshing back and forth)...

    Windshield install

For sealant I like Dap Ultra Clear, can be found at home depot. Not a silicone sealant, and comes off easily enough if you ever have to remove and redo the seal. https://www.dap.com/products-projects/product-categories/caulks-sealants/specialty/clear/

Civy truck to MIL trailer wiring info

Borrowed from XM381.com Depending on what trailer you have/what type of cable (many smaller trailers are only 7 wires instead of the 12) there is no reason why you can't do whatever wiring changes you want to. The only real issue with taking power from a blackout circuit is if it gets hooked...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Yeah, the 200 amp has a large strap (3/8"x1" steel bracket) that goes to the exhaust stud. It was the bracket bolt behind the power steering pump that can only be seen directly up from the bottom that was the loose one and backed out a couple millimeters. Still, there wasn't a whole lot of...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

So a month or three ago my serp belt was starting to squeal, riding up on the front lip of the fan pulley. I spaced the power steering pump back slightly to make it stop. Now power steering pump is noisy, so I probably screwed it up with that slight side load (or it was just failing anyway, who...

    Hard Door ID

Their website shows a hard door that looks like the soft doors, but has an RV type sliding window. Handle is similar though (but not exact). Could be some other manufacturer though.

    Hard Door ID

I know Amtech, who makes those hard tops, has their own version of the hard door, though I've never seen one before. From how perfectly it fits with the top that would be my guess.
