Cabs up....
a review of a video that showed which terminal is what on regulator. It appears that the one closest to corner on side of the regulator is IGN and the AC terminal is the one more central. Was questioning myself about if the IGN and the Excite is the same thing. Further reading...
nope..... no marks... at all. but before above postings in a review of a video that did show one marked... it appears that the one closest to corner on side of the regulator is IGN/excite and the AC as the one more central. That and was not sure if the IGN and the Excite is the same thing...
transfered a 200amp hummer alt to my LMTV few years ago. All been good. All the sudden it has stopped charging. Does not reach 28v at bats (or on dash) and does not reach 14v.
Anyone have diagnostic hints?? like which one on this alt. is the excite wire? Figure will need to asses if it...
well since could drive the VW again... have not dove into this till today since not driving truck at moment.
Before start on this adventure. today:
-each batt by chassis showed 12.64 volts which appears to me to 100% SOC
- each batt out out most end of batt box showed 12.4v or 80% SOC
Swapped...
Adding to the Be Careful Out There thread. This one did not end up as well as the above.

unless building the rig is really a huge part of your life enjoyment..... Then remember "take a break" from building it and drive the rig, enjoy the camping with friends and loved ones.

search in this thread for my name..... I asked about bolt sizes in the ECO .. In OEM setup you can use one to stick in axle end to help pull it out. He said same bolt sizes are in ECO so one can still do this. Those few post on that part should answer your questions. Think it was pretty...
you won't find any other dual 12v/24v regulator to run a Neihoff. Ron has experimented with running Neihoff on just one voltage and a few other experments in different ways to use the alt..... (all still with OEM regulator.).. some works.... but very poorly... poor enough to be a waste of...
yes Sterling seems to have the best 24v stuff. Next best on amp/dollar I think too. One thing I like about the BBMS..... since my alternator at 24v side is around 130-to 140amps available ...... I can use as much of that to charge lead or lithium as want... not limited to 30-50 amps. BBMS...
Side note: for those with 12v systems
There is a work around for NOT overheating common non smart alternators when using it to charge lithium . BUTTT it is only available for 12v Alts. !!! It is a battery isolator with a timer in its circuitry. When Lead start batt bank is full it will...
Similar boat as yourself.. but little further along..... actually committed pretty much now to a system since have most parts. Here is some food for thought in all your batt and charging quest for info.
Before reading below.... if your familiar with Lithium batts you likely know what a BMS is...
wonder if one could make it even less clunky by slipping a piece of fuel? coolant? hose or something over the pins on the hoop and grease it well where it would rub? If room; make it 3x too long.. so you can once a year or so cut off the part of hose on the pin that is worn.... then slip the...
