Hey all!
Having a few problems with my LMTV's VIC-4 intercom.
The mic cuts out randomly. Youll be talking, then it will start fading out and be gone. Turn off the intercom at the headset, wait a good 10 seconds, works again, but fades after a while. This happens with all of my headsets and...
Per the company i called (counteract) their beads are too big to get stuck. He said they have installed them before in trucks with CTIS and it works great, if installed correctly. Dont just chuck the bag into the tire and rebuild, but pour the beads into the tire THEN rebuild.
Basic hand tools is about all you need to keep these Behemoth trucks running. Metric sockets and wrenches are your friend. Watch for cab floor rot (leaking turret cover), run ATF in the transmission. All fluids are just normal fluids but in much great amounts then normal. Its quite normal to...
I have a related question. Going to a car show soon, is there a way to cut power at the circuit panel? I don't want kids turning the truck power on (green power toggle, not the starter button)
Like, pull one relay/breaker, no power at all when green power switch is hit?
To access first gear you have to select it. On the transmission controller, while stopped, hit MODE, then arrow down until it shows 1. Your now locked in first gear.
Hold on a second. Don't leave the air tanks open! The point of draining them is to remove moisture. Leaving it open lets humid air into the system overnight!
Either the TM flat out states do not do that or PM magazine does. I can't remember, but it's stated in one of em.
What transmission fluid are you running? There's a thread on here about changing it over from oil to atf. Much smoother shifting.
Simple one, pull the mats in the cab. If rusty under them, fix the rust and check your turret cover seal for leaks. You may have to remove the cover and reseal it...
If you changing fluids, change the transmission fluid over to heavy truck/tractor ATF. It shifts MUCH smoother vs motor oil. There's a great thread on here about doing it.
Also service the air dryer.
Far as the CTIS goes, try reseting it. How to is in the manual, I've never done it but heard...
Rural king heavy duty diesel oil. Honestly, it's dang cheap, meets the industry standards, every farmer I know runs the stuff in their field tractors. I also use their harvest king ATF fluid in the gearbox.
Now I only run my truck a few hours a week. If I was running daily cross country, I...
I had ordered a number of things, so it was cheaper. Plus picked up from the local shipping freight dock. Think 40 bucks? They were able to cram everything onto one oversized pallet.
I was looking for a starter, new cab airbags, and front shocks. But holding off on the suspension parts until...
Thats where I got mine from. Been calling them for months about getting a bunch of expensive parts, but no one would call me back. I saw that as well, I have no idea what happened.
Doing a quick google search found on fleabay a M1078 windshield and seal for 499. They show up on there often...
30 inches, per the manual. Long as the intake is above water AND water doesnt get into the electrical panel, you should be ok.
Do go under the truck and make sure the plug under the flywheel is covering the drain hole and turn off the fan before driving through water.
Heres another thread with...
I put Lucas gear oil in the front hubs, 75w. Slightly warm to the touch after a good 20 minute highway run.
Side note, my rear hubs were dry after the gearbox oil change. Refilled them via the rear hub fill ports with cheapo gear oil in rural kings parking lot.... Once the starter is...
