    5ton speedometer adapter on Deuce

Typically the transfer case end is "female".... Try gently pulling the "male" drive pin out of the transfer case, it should come out. Normally it stays in the 90 degree adapter.

    24 VDC to 12 VDC & 24 VDC to 110 AC converters/inverters Question

There's good information here and some of the setups people are running are fantastic (like islandguydon)! But if you whole goal is to not spend money on a hotel... You could pay for a lot on hotel nights with what a proper inverter/battery/charging system will cost (don't forget, how will you...

    Front axle boots and seals

I was surprised when the grease came pouring out of as I pulled the lower guard/king pin bolts. It is grease, not GL-1. I didn't have my borescope handy to look inside the knuckle housing to see if maybe I have the old ball style joints instead of the u-joint axle. I've heard a lot of...

    Front axle boots and seals

I installed a zipper boot about a month ago, following the steps in the TM.... It ripped two weeks later. I'd only run the truck on the highway, so it wasn't snagged on anything. It looks like the rip was caused by turning the wheel to the right full lock position. The boot came apart where...

    Flat Black painted vehicles?

Here's a thread about trailers, including the Deuce bed ones; http://www.steelsoldiers.com/trailers/39361-trailer-idea.html

    Flat Black painted vehicles?

I've built two "Bliz Black" trucks, pictures here: Trucks Blitz Black is a matte black John Deere color that is popular with the street rod / lead sled guys. It's very affordable, about $50 a gallon, and tough as nails (use hardener with it).

    Brake and Bumper Crash Test....

First and foremost; everyone walked away! So last week I adjusted my front brakes, today I adjusted my rear brakes. It's amazing how much better the truck stops, I would venture to say it stops great! And I got to test the brakes this evening! As I was driving the bobbed Deuce home from...

    No Deuce in-my FUTURE

Air-ride seat. Gives you the same, if not more room, than the box seat and a whole lot more room than the spring seat, plus is more comfortable than either stock seat. If you still need a little more room, swap the steering wheel.

What does your pyro read at speed?

Those are the kind of temps I run too. I've not adjusted the fuel or blow black smoke.

What does your pyro read at speed?

Before you give him crap about his spelling you might want to edit your post.... It's "you're a moron" not "your a moron" That's the kind of mistake that only a moron would make!!!!

Magnetic Drill vs Regular drill for Bobbing

To remove rivets I've ground, air chiseled, drilled and used a cutting torch to get them out. Cutting torch to blow the heads off and a little bit of the center and then an air chisel with punch in it to push them out is by far the easiest. The hard part with the other options is that you...

Magnetic Drill vs Regular drill for Bobbing

The first 3/4 drill bit you snap in two when you're trying to drilling the bumperette holes by hand will most likely pay for a days mag drill rental. And when you flip the drill up-side-down in it's mount (so it's like a drill press that goes "up" instead of "down") to drill the various holes...

    Another Brake Modification

As to liability, here's a very long answer. My business partner is an attorney with experience in product liability. I wondered what liability we have driving 40 year old trucks in the first place so I gave him 4 scenarios representing a flawed replacement part, just plain accident, lack of...

    Another Brake Modification

Hmmm.... Here's my opinion, and it's worth what I'm charging you for it! Deuce brakes work well when all parts are functioning and adjusted correctly. About the only braking "performance" to be gained by modifying the system would be less force on the pedal before the wheels lock up. But...

    Slave jump Hybrid 12/24 system

Dstang97, First and foremost, I know nothing about the CUCV! I jumped into this thread because it was the top thread when I logged into steelsoldiers and I am planning on doing the same thing you are doing. That being said; I looked at the CUCV wiring diagram and Recovery4x4 is correct. The...

    Slave jump Hybrid 12/24 system

Ken, Yes, you can't just pull a load off the bottom battery (to get 12v) without doing something like a battery equalizer. Over time, and not that much time, you'll overcharge the top battery and fry it! Other options are a second alternator or a dual voltage alternator feeding a dedicated 12v...

    Slave jump Hybrid 12/24 system

I'm preparing to do the same thing with my bobbed deuce. This is what I'm going to use: Detailed Specifications for e-Series Battery Switch, Selector 3 Position - PN 11001 - Blue Sea Systems It's a marine grade battery selector switch. It will let you switch between two battery banks (or 12v...

And Yet Another Way To Bob A Deuce!

I don't recall how far that hitch is off the ground bit I'll measure mine tomorrow. Some other trucks I've built are on my website, www.xm381.com

And Yet Another Way To Bob A Deuce!

Thanks! Yep the hitch is pretty much bolt-on, just drill six holes.

Well, I blew it up on the way home.

That oil pressure seems a bit low. There are two kinds of gauges and senders. You might pull the oil sender off your old motor (just above the starter) and put it on the new motor. I do agree that verifying with a mechanical gauge is a good idea too.
