    Power Steering Pump Question

I usually jack up the front so the tires don't dig up the driveway and start turn lock to lock kinda slowly.

Camo paint with white rims look good?

Really? I don't need or want to hear that! I know 16.5s are thing of the past, but 16"? I haven't seriously looked but still see what seems to be a good selection.

Sorry but it was long ago and my memory is like a sieve!

Help me plan - better highway capability

I did a 700R4 and never looked back! What's not to like better MPG, lower first gear, lock up converter and cheap. I took a core tranny to a local shop and paid CASH and had it totally rebuilt and upgraded for about $1000. (was a few years ago) but the cash was the money saver. At that time...

Thread type and size of oil line radiator left - M1009 / Chevrolet Blazer K5 Diesel

Yeah, just Tee off that so you have a gauge and idiot light. Easy peasy.

Camo paint with white rims look good?

Paint them black, but make sure you scuff them good. Nothing looks worse then peeling paint.

M1009 front frame side shackle bushings

I walked into NAPA and they had them in stock.

Dust cap for headlights - M1009 / Chevrolet Blazer K5 Diesel

That's a new one for me. How would a critter get into a sealed beam light?

Fuel Leaking From Fuel Filter Drain Hose CUCV M1009

Can you see down in there? I bet an O-ring would work, finding the right one might be a challenge.

Do you drive your CUCV in the winter salt?

You heard it, well read it, don't do it if you want to keep the truck. It's not just salt any more. Here in NY they are using some liquid stuff that makes salt look good! If you do have to drive it in the winter wash it often. Not just the outside but the underside, that will help prolong the...

Thread type and size of oil line radiator left - M1009 / Chevrolet Blazer K5 Diesel

Why do you want to tap in there at those lines? The engine block already has an oil pressure sending unit for the "idiot light", just pull that out and a couple of SAE type brass fittings and the job is done. For the tranny line, I used a tubing cutter and cut the line near the tranny and...

What items do you carry in your truck?

How far do you want to go? Some carry nothing and some probably have a parts store in the bed! I carry a gal of oil and one of 50% antifreeze and a gal of ATF some 3/8 fuel hose and clamps of various sizes. I also have some bailing wire, bungee cords and at least one ratchet strap and tow chain...

    M1009 Major Starting Issues

" "The guy I bought it from gave me a rebuilt Starter, I put it in myself, and there's been no change in symptoms except for that the cranking actually sounds worse now. The truck will randomly start on its own after an hour of repeated cranking attempts" Hate to say it but you seem to have a...

    Sm465 swap questions

What year is the doner truck? Reason I ask is GM did a P/N change between 84 and 85 on flywheels. I ran into this on one of my trucks when I installed a SM465, I tried using an 84 starter with a 85 flywheel and had a grinding problem. Can't help with the drive shaft lengths as I also went with...

    Death Wobble

Doesn't matter, ball joints wear too. Best way to avoid the 'death wobble' is lubrication. Greasing the joints won't help restore worn out parts but will help slow the wear. Every time you change the oil grab the grease gun and give a little love to all the zerks.

    Wiring Question

"there should be a nameplate" Really? I've never seen one before, just the 24V stamped on the solenoid. I always thought there should be a better way!
  17. N

    Wiring Question

Based on what little experience I've had seeing 24 volt starters getting just 12 volts is that they don't work at all! This might be an anomaly but in both cases the solenoid would kick the starter gear out and then try to turn the engine but couldn't, leaving the starter drive engaged and...

    Death Wobble

Yup, it's not that expensive for tie rod ends and ball joint's, while your in there do the front u-joints too, you where going to repack the wheel bearings , right? What ever you do, full up replace everthing or piecemeal, do NOT just toss a shimmy shock on there and call it good to go! That...

Never thought I'd be posting about a turbo

Chevy pick up truck. Must be a difference?

Never thought I'd be posting about a turbo

I fell into a deal that I really couldn't say no to. I picked up a complete 6.5 turbocharger including both intake and exhaust manifolds, crossover pipe, 3" down pipe, oil lines, and a spare turbocharger and some other turbo parts I'm forgetting. Included in the deal is all the parts to put on a...
