If an air hammer didn't do it, id be highly skeptical of a hand hammer working any better. No extra hands, i end up running solo for 99.9% of the operations/maint and when it comes to my wife, i get as much help as boar does with tits, and my neighbor, well, lets just say, a little more help...
ALL NPT fittings/lines will eventually be changed to a flared JIC. I HATE pipe fittings and with they didn't exist in the hydraulic world. For the past 20 years, its either been AN or MS fittings, operating at the 3000+ psi and very, very little issue.
I was using a trucker's chain binder bar on my ratchet and all i did was spread the crows foot enough for it slip the flats and go to the next flats. if my attempt with the sawzall fails here in a few, i will put a bag and rag over the other 2 exposed fittings and lines, and get the 4" grinder...
Yes, those hoses/that cylinder. I have the boom as high as the stowage support legs will allow for. I don't have any trees tall enough, or strong enough to even trust supporting the weight, plus i have drained all the fluid in the tank, and have 1 of the cylinder lines off, but that dang short...
My l/h front brake was dragging/applied and after applying some air tool oil to the service chamber, with no luck of releasing the shoes, I removed the service chamber, and still had no luck getting the shoes to release. I was able to air hammer the drum off, and in the process, noticed the hub...
Has anyone changed out the 2 hoses for the left hand boom lift cylinder (driver side when in the stowed position)? If so, what the hell tools did you use? i cant for the life of me get the return (short) hose off the dang NPT 90. i went to the snap on guy for the 1 3/8" and 1 1/2" crows feet...
I just had a hose on my boom lift cylinder start leaking at the swedge. Its just time to replace it.
As for your lines, try breaking the line loose and reseating it. Where exactly are the lines leaking from? You might need to bit the bullet a d replace lines, esp if they are starting to crack...
My 936A2 hard top is now straight piped. Im already hard of hearing bc of 6 yrs in artillery on M109s, and the last 20yrs in aviation. I can tell a difference between muffled and non, but its not enough to bother me. Operating the crane though, i need ear muffs.
Iv been thinking of replacing...
what about rotation resistant rope? Its break strength is just above that of the winch capacity. there is 5/8" also but figured the 9/16" would work too. As for the 3/4", i don't use the rear winch since its a 2 person job to pay it out, and actually thinking about just removing the drag winch...
A bit of an older thread, but i nicked my boom cable a couple weeks ago. I let it jump the sheave and got wedged between the sheaves and the two “guide” bolts.
What about synthetic line? The boom winch isnt as bad for holding a memory, but damned if the front winch wont twist and coil up while...
I disconnected the lines from the rear of the boom, took my other crane and put a lil up tension till the boom supports pins were loose, rmvd supports and let tension off till enough slack was in the block and drag winch cable to disconnect the boom block hook, then put the boom supports back in...
It could also be the gauge is deciding to crap out or a combo of both alt and crapping out.
My coolant temp gauge was bouncing and will sometimes show actual temp, but for the most part, it pegs out on the high side. Iv just stopped worrying bout it since the mech gauge i hang tested showed...
When i did my lmtv wheels, even though i rmvd the run flats out of the few that had them, they were lined up with the valve stem. A couple 14R20s on combat wheels had R/F in them and they too were lined up. It might not matter, but its only 1 tire a d if by chance it does make a diff, then its...
Do you know a kevin beckman from kamiah? I used to work with him.
@scarryy
do you know the hayes family? I was in the army with a thomas hayes, who grew up in orafino.
I was in grangeville for several months working the fires in that area. We had the black and white tandem ch-47d chinook...
A trick iv used many times in the past, and that is to use baby powder. Cover the suspected leaking are with baby powder and briefly operate said leaking unit, then check. Follow the streaked powder back to the area where the powder isnt “washed away” by the leaking liquid.
