Well...I didn't do any repairs or modifications this week for the first time in months. I met up with two good friends of mine, Ellen and Andy, who took me out for a fantastic Italian lunch to celebrate my 60th birthday. I drove Ellen around in the Deuce and she was great. Most women don't even...
Clay...nice diagnosis. I've had a few wiring problems myself. It's a relief when you hear that engine fire up isn't it!
WB "C" turbo means you've got a whistler? I have one myself. Love the sound. Was the install easy? Did you buy it new or used? From whom if I may ask?
Brake line pic.
Okay. Here's my brake line picture. I used 3/8 compression fittings. You can see where I used a 1" hole saw to go through the brace. A nice direct shot to the gladhand bulkhead fitting. Up at the top of the picture you can see part of the other gladhands spaghetti tubing. I'm...
I own a 1984 AMGeneral that I had bobbed. It has cab heat, an LDT465 whistler turbo motor, and a shortened dropside box. I paid extra to have six Firestone T831 11R-20 tires, hydraulic power steering, and a fiberglass hardtop installed. My goal is to keep him looking as stock as a bobbed Deuce...
Hank, it's a really easy install. The one mistake I made was that I was parked on a slight slope toward the driver's side. So, although the filter elements and the cans were drained after sitting for a day, there was still a pint or so of oil left where the filter cans sit. It ran down the side...
Hey Hank...Caliber...easy on me guys! I threw my camera out two weeks ago. It ate batteries. Couldn't stand it. I keep forgetting my cell phone has a camera. I think 48 mph is pretty good for 134 ponies moving a 10,000 lb. bobber. Besides, I wanted to make sure the rubber side stayed down in the...
I just got finished fixing a nagging air leak at my right side glad hand. I cut out the kinked spaghetti/pretzel plumbing the guys who bobbed my Deuce left behind. I hole drilled a frame brace (one inch hole saw) and used 3/8" soft copper with a spring bender and compression fittings. A simple J...
Update. Fixed the air leak at the right side gladhand that has been bugging me for months. The tubing to the rear of my Deuce is 3/8 O.D. Cut out the kinked spaghetti the people who bobbed my truck left behind. Re-plumbed it in soft copper with compression fittings. Much cleaner and the air leak...
Whatadeuce,
I operate and maintain high pressure boilers for Johnson Controls these days. Yeah, I've been a truck fanatic since the days I was sucking a pacifier. It took me 59 years of living to get my first big rig, but I finally have him! The more I think about it the more I'm thinking turbo...
A few more thoughts. If your turbo's seal was leaking a bit of oil on the compressor side it would be going directly to the combustion chambers. A diesel will easily burn that oil of course. That's a frequent cause of run away engines. There's always valve guide seals too. If you had a holed...
Don't mention it. The Deuce operator manual calls for 1500 to 2200 if your loaded. Being that Deuces are heavy and only have five gears...I do all my driving in that 1500-2200 band. You're really working/lugging that 134 horses under 1500. I concur with the coolant check. Hopefully your oil...
I found this on a web search concerning oil consumption. Most diesels consume a bit of oil. Sometimes the amount is so small that no visible smoke will be seen. http://www.smartsynthetics.com/motor_oil_consumption.htm
I insured my truck with Progressive. I told them it's not for commercial use, not for hire, doesn't carry people, doesn't have a plow or a dump body and they insured me relatively cheaply. No restrictions. I registered my truck as a code 15 commercial vehicle (commercial vehicle for...
