Even previews of auction items don't guarantee a smooth recovery - Long

Picked up a M923 yesterday at Camp Beauregard in Pineville, LA, and thought it would be another simple drive home. I learned my lessons years ago to preview trucks before buying them, and only buy sight unseen if I want to risk it being a parts truck...

    New girl...

He, he, he - thanks for the chuckle:grin: - The lady has been on the site for a year and about 8 months. My wife is an Aggie also, so I understand.

New member all the way from The Netherlands

Welcome - what is in the pintle hook bag? I have a pintle hook for the front bumper, but I haven't had time to put it on a truck.

Calm recovery of M925 out of Pineville,LA

Good deal! I have to pick up one this week also - it was the green one.:-D Hope it runs well also once I replace the Bic pen with a bolt.

    My new 1010

Is that air conditioner 120v or engine driven? Looks like it'll be a great rally camper.

700 mile 2 1/2 day recovery, M929I helped a friend join the addiction this week by he

LOL, I'm not a mechanic either and I'm still learning some of the terms/jargon for air brake systems, which is why I asked. Thanks!

    Caution when Parking Your MV.....

That's what's worrying me now I just bought one there, but they are doing a better job of escorting. At least the M939 series trucks don't require EUCs now.

Good job, looks like a really nice truck. Yeah, if it's more than a 1-day round trip, it goes on a trailer. If you end up with a towing charge, it definitely is cheaper to ship. Is a wedge puller the same thing as a cageing bolt, or did you actually pull the wedges out?

Where is the m871 data plate

If it's there, it should be on the driver's side frame beam, in front of the tool box.

    January thaw sparta/Ft. McCoy recovery

My older, short, 6-ton and 12-ton trailers have deuce rim tires on them (I guess because they were made for the deuce tractors), which accentuates the trailer slant when my 5-ton tractors pull them. I haven't hooked them up to the super singled tractor yet, but I suspect they will look similar...

Tandem 105 axles under a gooseneck?

The original M105 weight ratings were 1.5 tons offroad cargo and 3 tons (6,000 lbs) on highway. The M105 empty weight was 2650 lbs, so we can estimate the highway axle rating of 6,000 + 2650 lbs = 8,650 lbs or about 4 1/4 tons. Two axles would give you an 8 1/2 ton rating (I think this would...

Newly Bobbed M818 Back Working for the Man

The 800 (818, 816, 817, etc) series trucks use a NHC250 Cummins, which is modified slightly for the M939 series trucks (931, 925, 936, etc) thru the A1 versions. The A2 versions of the 939 series trucks has the 6CTA8.3 Cummins if that is what you're looking for. The 939 series trucks also have...

Warm weather recovery of M923 from Fort Polk

Cool! Those lanes on that old bridge seem narrow in a normal truck, I was concentrating real hard to stay in my lane and not hit the bridge concrete rail so if you waved, I didn't see you.

Warm weather recovery of M923 from Fort Polk

I looked at the M1102 trailers last week when I was there and they looked to only have storage wear from moving them from yard to yard. Most only 3 years old or so and never used and yes they were bargains. It's a shame those hmmv trucks wont go to auction. They have so many stacking up, they...

Warm weather recovery of M923 from Fort Polk

I just glanced at it folded up, but I think it's the green camo pattern, not solid green.

Warm weather recovery of M923 from Fort Polk

I know what you mean - I made a cold recovery last Feb at ~24F in an unheated M818. I couldn't even get the usual engine heat you always fight in the summertime to come into the cab. We're just not used to handling that type of cold in LA.

    M923A2 Cold Weather Recovery Tomorrow!

I hate that feeling in the pit of your stomach when your truck starts dying on you. Good job on getting it home with the help of good friends.

    Carnage in mississippi

OH NO!! I was just on the phone with him around 0930, and he sounded bad at first but sounded better the longer we talked. Tell him we're all pulling for him and praying for a speedy recovery.

Warm weather recovery of M923 from Fort Polk

Although we needed a light jacket in the morning, the temps were around 70 F and sunshine during the recovery (sorry Chadande:-D). We got to the GL/DRMO yard at 10:15 and I asked Maxine (GL) if the truck started, and she said she had been using it to jump the other trucks to load out :jumpin...
