Here is a M105 behind a 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup. Pulls great, hard to stop quickly, but the angle is too great to be really useful. Second photo is a M101 trailer behind the same 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup - much better match.
I know it's hard for some of us to grasp that saw hundreds of deuces at auction a few years ago go for under $1500-2000, but since they are almost all now in private hands, $4000 - $6000 is not a bad price for a good running deuce (condition is everything, and location is also a factor). A few...
As usual, had a great time - BIG Thanks to Tim, Pam and Jessica for hosting the Rally. Others have most of the vehicles covered, so I only have a couple of photos to add.
You would have had a better chance of getting a refund if you refused to pick it up, or had the GL rep note on the invoice the descrepancy when they signed your copy. Because it never had an AC, but it was in the photos, you still have a good chance, but it will take awhile. It took me 5-6...
fancyd hasn't visited this site since March of '08 - that was 5 years ago! You might want to call the number in his post, but odds are good that it's gone by now.
I thought there were legal issues (fine/jail time) for removing or changing VIN plates on vehicles in most states unless there was a really compelling reason a judge would agree with. I doubt there would be an issue for removing the plate to paint the metal underneath, but it has to go back...
Hi Tim,
I'll be there with a M923(maybe) and my camper M105 if I can have the same spot. I've also got a load of well aged pecan wood for the fire, but it's starting to get too hot for a campfire.
Looking forward to seeing all the old and some new friends.
Doug
According to your join date, you've been a member longer than I have, so you should have seen all the recovery threads documenting problems with vehicles and other stuff bought from GL that were not evident from the photos/video/description.
There are a few reasons for price variability, but...
Recent issues off the top of my head that I've had with recovery of these trucks in the last 3 months:
1. ABS light stays on - means 45 max safe speed until repaired
2. Rear brakes locked - if they rolled freely in the GL video, you're probably OK
3. Missing parts - throttle linkage nut, turn...
Trouble is, you won't know if the fan clutch is not working until the engine overheats, like mine did. The bolts were made available for the fan lock for a reason. My problem was that the truck I picked up had to be jump started, so I couldn't shut the engine down to install the bolts since I...
I stopped watching after about a minute. At 1:08, he says it's been outside for about 3 days, but then says it hasn't been started for 3 months - did he push it outside 3 days ago?. After he starts, he guns the engine 3-4 times (to get puffs of white smoke) before the very cold oil gets a...
Hey, Zev, that second one is good - much better than what I didn't post - the Babwa Walters version "Weel Men drive Weckas". OOPS, that's the result of too many beers in a lonely motel room.
Just my opinion, but using "reels" is cute, but takes a lot of explaining or maybe not, depending on who reads it. I'm embarrased to say that I knew something was off, but it took a couple of moments to figure it out. How about something like "WENCHES LIKE MEN WITH BIG WINCHES" or "WENCHES...
