To reply to my own post - which is kinda like talking to yourself - it depends on which yard the truck comes from at Camp Shelby. If it's the GL yard, it can be driven off base.
But we do a meet at Timntrucks in Ponchatoula in April. Come see us with or without a green machine.
It looks like it has new lights, so it was probably PM'd for turn in. You should have no problem towing it home, but I would take off the cover for better gas mileage. I use Gorilla tape to help secure the magnetic lights on the bottom frame of the tailgate, right next to the reflectors.
I...
As long as your truck has tags and insurance, and you have the base folks sign your invoice when you pick it up, you will have no trouble getting it off Camp Shelby. I've never had a problem with not having a tag driving near 3 dozen trailers home, but I've never driven through FL.
Also bring...
Maybe they've changed back to where they were a couple of years ago, which would be real good news. It has been 6-months or so since I've bought a truck from there, and I can't find that requirement in the lot description like it used to be. I would definately call first to verify 'tho before...
Welcome to the Green Iron madness!
If this is your first GL auction, be advised that you only have 10 days from the time you get the Paid-in-Full invoice to pick up your truck. At Camp Shelby, you cannot drive the truck off base, like you can other locations. You have to tow or haul it. One...
Welcome but be real careful not to give details of current auctions. I also lurked for several years before joining, but I've learned more by participating. I'm sure you've read some of the recovery horror stories - if not, you should do a search to avoid the more common GL issues.
Sing out...
Yeah, that was the point of my post - the specified width of the 4-wheeler indicated that it wouldn't fit between the wheel wells, but the widest part of the 4-wheelers are actually at a point higher than the wheel wells, so it may fit. You just have to measure the width of the wheels and...
I got one of the Ft Polk 10kw's also with fairly low hours (I know that doesn't really mean much). I'll probably pick it up later this week in a M1101 trailer I won a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping it runs and I can get it to handle most of the house, mainly the central air, before the next...
Finally got a crane truck to pick up all the stuff around the place so I can work on it. It's a 1986 M936 with all BII except the field chocks, tow bars and chains.
Not just GL buyers, but some parts may be scrounged by base personnel to keep their trucks running, especially if the trucks are stored at the repair facility. It just depends on how the vehicles are secured and who has access to them. It is also not a common occurrence.
If the truck has been...
Yeah, I knew the Rancher would fit in my M105, but pulled behind my F250, the breakover angle would make for an exciting adventure loading it  and very difficult unloading at the camp.rofl
Of course I could use one of the big trucks, but they're kinda hard to sneak up on the deer with.
Well, It's Olive Green! ATV 4-wheeler in a M101 trailer UPDATED 1ST POST
I just Joined a deer lease (not that I will be home enough to use it much since I’m always working out of state :-() and awhile back I bought my first 4-wheeler ATV, a new Honda Rancher (in olive green, of...
