With the possible exception of the maintenance contact team trucks I don't think any of the CUCV series had a pioneer tool rack and tools as basic issue items (BII in the TM) so they were all unit add-ons. As such they didn't have to remain with the truck when it was transferred to someone...
Rick, how are you thinking of registering it? In NY you can register it Historic if you don't use it commercially and have another vehicle. The rules here are pretty lenient. A regular registration is easy, too.
I get my commercial CUCV parts from the local Parts Plus outlet who hasn't let...
If you have a dual voltage alternator you need to check to see what the ampacity is of each voltage. Some are equal. Some favor the 12 volt side and some favor the 24 volt side. All dual voltage alternators are NOT the same, even GI ones.
For example the basic 12 Volt, 24 volt cranking...
I deleted one too many PMs in cleaning up my inbox. Who wanted the M103 generator trailer bows?
I have two used M103 covers I'll unroll and check today. If they are good or repairable should I bring them?
Thanks
Lance
Well, I'm not going to NC for 4 month's or so since I just got back from a week there.
But there may be a way to do this deal yet. I'm about 50 minutes from Sodus and I'll be at the Sussex show (Augusta, NJ) on the weekend of the 27th-29th. What are the chances your seller could get it to me...
I've seen them Gimpy but they aren't anywhere near as stout. For a small crane though I guess I'd likely only need enough to hoist tires and other than that the heaviest thing I'd pick with it would likely be a 560 pound welder/generator.
Will you be at Aberdeen?

Has anyone considered cutting down a 2-ton engine hoist and mounting it on a pivoting base? Good used engine hoists can be had for $100-150 fairly often. Add a chain fall or cable hoist and you'd be all set.
Any thoughts?

I think it is very important to keep some of these things separate in your mind.
The federal guidelines on CDLs and CMVs only take effect when you cross a state line for commerce with the exception of a limitd number of hazmat items that are always regulated. If you are never leaving your...
If you come east on I-90 you'll pass 8 miles from me and if you come north on I-81 you'll pass 25 miles west of me. I-90 also brings you just a few miles from John Tennis (jatonka on SS) who usually has trucks for sale. Also, depending on your exact route you will be quite close to doghead who...
In New York you can use a historic registration for any vehicle 25 model tears old or older that sees NO commercial use and which has no commercial signage (other than period historic in some cases). Hauling your own private property is not commercial use so hauling your junk..err, classic...
I do have the bows but M101 covers I don't have. A while back doghead had some. If he does and your buddy makes a deal I could bring one down from him. It might be worth shooting him a PM.
