With either hub tool (machined old hub or 3D printed), it's just letting you take the measurements with it actually assembled in the hub. The "old way" is that you measure the parts outside the hub, and calculate what size they will be when assembled. So if you do it well, there is no...
Yeah, this would have been about 12-18 months ago. My buddy bought them, and then the storage facility where my buddy kept his truck burned down and destroyed his truck. So I bought the tires off him.
I'll wait for a new Goodyear tire, when you come back out. I'll PM you, thanks.
I printed one, but haven't used it. My hubs were running ok, so I haven't tried changing the shims. If you want to pay to ship it, I'll send you the one I have, for you to try out.
That Ritchie Brothers is about 2 miles away from me!
All the other tires are 2016/2017 date codes, brand new, from you actually (I think, my buddy got the batch, and I got my 8 from him). I'm planning to drive the trailer for at least a few thousand miles in a couple months, so I just want to...
I need to buy one tire, and am hoping I can chip in on somebody's order. I bought 8 brand new tires, for the LMTV + trailer (hoping to have an extra spare), but then 2 tires turned out to be bad so now I'm actually short one. It figures, right?
Another difference in the weight is that the TM defines "curb weight" as a weight that is ready-to-roll, with driver, equipment, fuel, MOPP gear, etc. Right away you should be about 1000lb off.
I just want it out of here, and was wondering if there were any especially useful pieces to keep. So in the interest of getting it out of here, "keep it all" is exactly contrary to what I am trying to accomplish.
If you want to pay to ship it to yourself, you can have it! I'm not joking.
It takes about an hour to get it on there nicely. It's not complicated or difficult, and helps to have a friend, it's just that there isn't a lot of room to get your hands in there to position it correctly. You can see in the TM, you raise the cab, take out one bolt on the top and bottom of...
A couple of years ago I replaced the 3116 that I cracked the block on, and it's since been sitting (covered). I'm going to scrap it, but is there anything good off it I should keep or sell?
I was thinking maybe...
Turbo
Front housing
Front cover
Oil pan
Thoughts?
I updated my math above, because something wasn't looking right in the morning light. It's not 3750-7000 miles you'll need to drive to pay for the gears, it's 45000-81000!
I like the idea of running the engine at a lower RPM, too. I can go 72+ MPH on flat ground (even at altitude here in Denver), but 65MPH just after the shift into 7th feels a lot easier on the truck.
Just for the record, I wouldn't say "a few MPG". It's basically 1MPG (10%) increase, and only...
I had the 290HP engine in the truck before I regeared it, and I noticed the loss. The extra speed on the highway is nice, especially in Colorado where the speed limit is 75MPH. I wouldn't say it's really hurt because of the loss of torque, but it's definitely not as peppy accelerating any...
While a dynamic balancer will balance better, and allow the driveshaft to survive some things a static balance weight wouldn't, keep in mind that the balancer itself probably has lower survivability. Anything that would wreck a static weight is definitely going to destroy the dynamic balancer...
