Gross weight refers to what the vehicle is capable of carrying, not what you personally actually carry. You're not going to legally get away from the CDL requirement (or Non-Commercial Class A, if your state has such an animal) with an M813.
M813 is a fun vehicle to drive, mine gets 6+ mpg on...
A wet start to the day, glad that "cold" front came through way earlier than predicted, so we had nice weather for the air show.
It was nice to drive over to Burnet in good weather, sit out the storm in the back of reloader64's M35, then have the show and drive home in clear weather again...
I know there will be a 5-ton and a towbar close by tomorrow, should anything need to be dragged. ;)
Amazing how much you got done while I was away for the week (fishing out on the Gulf with no phone or internet access). I was expecting to see Mrs Mkcoen's M37 tomorrow, I was quite surprised...
If you can pull a V100 away from the gas pumps to jump start it, you should be able to move a 1078.
Bet that doesn't fit the manual criteria for the rather weak 1009 pintle hitch! :p
Glad the radiator is a little better than originally thought.
Cheers
Unfortunately, there are an increasing number of posts here that just have links to the photos, and as mentioned above, already threads that are not very old with dead links.
Personally, if I look at a thread and there are just photo links, I close the post and move on. If you don't care...
Big thanks to Mkcoen and his buddy Omar, who took the time to measure an in-service ambulance on a local military base, and get the information to me. You fellers are great! [thumbzup]:clinto:
The diagram on post 1 has been updated with the information.
Now, I'll try to figure out how to get...
Yes, Lujan probably has some. And he's down to about 20' of pioneer tools...... in the one pile...
My guy is cheaper on the boxes, but at Lujan's you could pick your own. Sup to you!
Cheers
What size military box do you want? Two smaller ones, or one big one? I come across them cheap sometimes, I can grab it/them for you next time I have a close encounter. That's one of those things best acquired nearby, because shipping usually makes the cost unreasonable.
The ones in the...
I never had any trouble running the 813 on the highway like that. But, being a suspenders-and-a-belt kinda guy, I did strap the lower ends of the rear bow uprights to the truck bed, just to make sure there was no "lift".
I drive the Unimog like that too, but it never goes fast enough to...
That's why I thought the ambulance might look good on this trailer, the overhang would reach over the generator box on the front. The gap could be filled to make it look visually pleasing.
The previous owner had an S-250 on my trailer for a bit, but it looked kinda odd, definitely small and...
John, if it's like a real B-17 (which it looks like it is), the outboard engines/props were slightly aft of the inboard ones, so the tips wouldn't be in the same plane anyway. And the nose will have tapered in some by the time it gets to where the inboard props are. :)
Checked a couple of...
