I can't believe they ripped out all the guages. They did that in other states also (NC maybe). I hope that is not the future, because guages will become very expensive.
Other than that, it looks like you got a nice truck, better than normally come out of Ft Polk. You also need the air, oil...
It actually takes a while to start the claim process, but have the GL rep witness the condition and note this on your and his copies of the paid invoice that the items were missing when you pick it up. Do not leave without doing this! If you don't want the trailer if it is missing some major...
Put your M818 red gladhand on the driver's side of the trailer, and the yellow one on the passenger side of the trailer. I'm assuming your M818 glad hands are painted. Service is usually on the passenger side of the trailer, and emergency is on the driver's side.
It looks long enough to fit a full size deuce for a recovery. I also wonder if the loaded tongue weight would be too much for your single axle bobber. You might want to work up some load calcs.
I plan to bring my M109A3, but it's condition is a-la-GL. Haven't done anything since I got it but check brakes and fluids. It can be the BEFORE to Rich's AFTER.
M119A1 Van, M105A1, M871A1
M119A1 box van made in 1968, pulled with XM818 tractor and filled with 115 square bales of hay.
M105A1 year unknown 1.5 ton trailer with steel box pulled with M35A2 or M109A3
M871A1 flat bed made in 1969 and frame up depot rebuilt in 2007, pulled with XM818 tractor
I have a NOS 24 volt fuel transfer pump with 4 hoses and filler nozzle. Photo of a similar pump attached.
I also have a complete 2-box light set as often seen on GL with mostly new in wrapper parts.
I am in the market for a reasonably priced duece air compressor.
I'll throw in a case of MRE's
Are we just planning one meal, or two or ...? If we can have a menu set out, we can pick off the list what to bring. Don't know the menu, but -
Sat. Supper - I can supply big jugs of relish, mustard, catsup, onions, tomatoes OR the...
NICE!!! Doesn't look like there is a lot of work on the outside, now you just need to learn to do PMs for the inside.
If you haven't already, print out the manuals from the resources menu above. You want:

Sarge's story got me into MVs
Sarge's brave tale is what made me want a deuce. I ran across the story and found this site in late 2005 after recovering from Katrina and Rita. I lurked for several years, and after Ike and Gustav in 2008, I decided it was time to jump in, join SS and buy a...
Prices for deuces on GL locally have increased 50-75% in the last year. Good running deuces without a winch are auctioning for over $2K, and one shop van with new paint recently went for $4K on GL. You often hear from the people who have good luck buying from GL, but you rarely hear the...
That sounds like the forklift operator that loaded my light kits. I think he was only one step above a banjo picker on the banks of the Chattahoochee river.
They used a small forklift to load some light kits on pallets for me last year. But they also recently sold a pile of 5-ton trailers that were stacked, so they must have a forklift capable of unstacking those trailers.
Mike's #3 comment got cut off, but I also noted an oil stain on the LF tire. Don't know if it is a leaking seal or brake wheel cylinder. In either case, I would not drive it far before checking it out. Since you don't have brake lights or turn signals anyway, you can't safely drive it on the...
I think we are both correct
In 2004, the Provost Marsall institued new access controls requiring a day pass that they handed to you at the gate, but they must have been relaxed by the time I started visiting the site about a year ago. As of 4/1/10, the criteria has been tightened to require...
