Y'all are probably right, I didn't really look close at the truck and just assumed it was an A3. The head slap is still valid.
Like Jim said, I think the alternator belts were just too loose, it was just the first time I'd heard the belts squeal since I had it. I'll tighten the belts and see...
I learned one thing about A3's when I had to move one to get to my trailer. If the truck has no air pressure in the system, the air brakes will not release. With the permission of the Sgt. on site, I had to really gun my M818 to push a non-starter out of the way, and at least the rear wheels...
Both Progressive and State Farm wrote the policies for me as private commercial because of the weight. Progressive was much higher than State Farm for me.
Ryker, sorry I wasn't there to meet you. The landing gear crank handle on my trailer smacked me on the head, so I had to get home and to a clinic for 4 stitches.
While there, I tried to jump a couple of A3's with little luck. Of course the temperature when I got there was 24 degrees...
I'm supposed to be on base at 1100 hours to pickup my expandable van semitrailer. If you see someone driving a green camo M818 tractor, come by and say Hi. I'll be glad to go over some trucks with you.
I have an M119A1 that I use to haul and store about 115 square bales of hay. Still watching GL for a M146. It has 4 plus 1 spare Deuce rim 9.00x20 tires, rated for 6 tons. Only two rear doors, no side door.
You don't need a MV to show up - mine always seem to be down for some reason during the rally. This year I'm bound and determined not to drive home each night, if I have to pull an M105 trailer behind the Ford!
Jessica, I know you've been looking over Tim's shoulder before, did he get tired...
The M871 trailers have two styles of underbed tool boxes that are very similar to commercial boxes you can buy anywhere. You could also buy two or more of the 5-ton tool boxes, bolt them side-by-side and mount them under the bed for a multi-compartment storage.
Ken, OH, it was a Deuce trip excuse, never mind! Glad you made it back safe. It was a great day for a road trip.
Tim, when I told my wife I bought another trailer, she just  smiled and shook her head. At least she smiled.
Shucks, I wish I'd known it needed to get to you. I went to Pineville on 1/5 to preview some trailers. Could have dropped it off at your place on the way.
At first, I thought you were trying to get an automatic coupler to engage on the M105 :-P.
I would have thought with the engine and winch weight over the front axle, the front tires would have helped a lot if you engaged it.
It's not commercial since it's for my use, but I use one of my M818s and the worst condition M871 trailer I have for hauling 10 round bales of hay every two weeks on a 44 mi round trip. The truck and trailer combined cost a couple of thousand less than just a new gooseneck flatbed trailer...
I watched two sell last week at Camp Shelby for around $4100 and $5400. I really liked the looks and design, but didn't know enough about their condition to bid. Do they fit on a 2" plate or the larger hitch on the 916/920s?
It is really a great tractor accessory.
I drooled over them when they came up, congrats. If only they were a little closer.......
I'm hoping some will shake loose around here, but I'll probably be working 2500 miles away when they do.
I wanted to bid on that one so bad, but I'm working 6-10s in Spokane WA for a few weeks and there is no way I could have made the recovery. If I was home, it would NOT have gone so cheap. Congrats to the high bidder!
