The difference is most likely in the fact that "air brakes" makes it possible to use the same system for the trailer brakes, which makes the deuce's brake system an air brake system also.
An exception to the air over hydraulic for all older 5-ton trucks is the 100% air system used on the m656...
When a regulator fails, be concerned about your cable connections to the battery. If they are loose and break the continuity while charging (=engine running), a so called load dump is generated, which can easily ruin the regulator components and other electronics hooked up and turned on at the...
The alternator will need to come off for the regulator replacement, so I'd say if you want to carry a spare, bring a complete and tested alternator.
Once off the truck, the bad regulator can rather easily be replaced with a new one...
Have contacted the artist...they will be using the truck to construct a parade float, not a bad job for an old MV, I suppose.
Problem is storing the bed (if/when) after it's purchased.
Thanks.
Right, a lot of ground return paths rely on screws, star washers and in the case of the instrument panel 1/4 turn fasteners and pointed hold-down brackets that's supposed to punch through paint.
The kit is completely self contained and anything connected to it can be removed. Just follow the wires, ducts and piping, it won't affect anything else from the fuel pump, control box to the heater itself. Worth two to three hundred complete.
Come on guys, show the OP some respect, virtually everything has been discussed before, nothing pollutes a thread more IMHO, than constant references to TM's or some search he/she should have done. If you know the answer state it or go to next subject unless you simply want to add to your silly...
Transportation to the East coast will be more costly then than the bed itself.
I'd be interested in some of the tires if original also the bilge pumps and the 30/80 amp generator.
Here are a few images of the 656 in "public" use, it seems to be people friendly somehow...
Sent you a PM, Stuart. Thank you all for thinking of me. I did actively search for a bed a few years ago and started to make payments on one out in Idaho, but gave up due to the high cost of transporting it East.
Yes, I'd like to help save this one if the cost isn't too high, even if it remains...
Have had the pleasure of working with Justin, most recently, the cranetruck deal. Outstanding individual, met both him and his wife Amanda here on a visit. Hope NASA knows what's good for them and keeps him on in view of all the cut-backs.
This is the oil cooler gasket area, may not be so bad to fix...don't think it's a common problem, though. The hose connection behind the oil filter canisters would be my guess.
1) Check linkages and return springs.
2) The shut-down cable is locked in position by a 1/4 turn.
3) The fuel cut-off lever (see image) could be sticky and may need to be cleaned. Instructions in TMs.
Agree, if you put it in the negative connection, you won't run the risk of accidentally shorting something to ground when working around the batteries...
