No avatar change...the 757 is in it. :-)
Regarding new projects, just about all my projects since 2006 (the arrival of the 8x8) have related to it. There is so much repetition now that I rarely post anything at all.
There are of course many optional add-ons for the K-booms. The "winch" will get you the lifting by wire rope and the reach is easily extended with tubular steel.
I have had a max reach of close to 40 ft for special applications.
IMHO, the only drawback is the nested height, puts the deuce at...
Have only used it around the yard since returning from the cross country trip. Have since bypassed the FDC, but it has a pyro, so that in itself is not a problem, but the knock and possible low oil pressure may be related to a rod bearing that's at the end of its useful life. Then again, I may...
Thanks, been working on it for twenty years, built the fence in the foreground too. :-)
The best care the truck can get is a lot of usage. Since the 757, I haven't done much with the cranetruck, so it's looking forward to a good workout.
As far as driving it to LA or some other place, I'd be a...
Even my '69 8x8 has an electric solenoid operated fuel cut-off and that's simply due to the fact that it would be more difficult to run a mechanical link to the IP.
The protective control box has been simplified in this mod, which was done for Chris's truck a few years ago.
Remember that a huge amount of the wiring is for the diagnostic system, even includes some shielded wires running to it.
Selling it? It wasn't an easy decision, but gotto shake the tree now and then and our house needs a new roof among other things.
The 757 will also get insured and tagged finally.
I do, however see a new, smaller crane in my future, something that will not run on the main vehicle engine...can't...
Yep, add an extra set of batteries (I did) so this won't happen. Lead acids don't like to be discharged and is best used for starting only. Multiple discharge cycles will reduce the reserve capacity drastically.
The "house" batteries as they are called by boating people, should be of the deep...
Great doing business with you Justin. I know the truck will be cared for and come of good use as it has served me for more than 15 years.
"Bjorn", hmm..flattering means "bear" in Swedish sort of goes with the elephant logo on the crane.
Got some cleaning up to do and the weight with the extra...
In any case, if you suspect rust, don't let it get to your FDC or IP, damage to plungers, in particular will result.
Have experienced problem with both and now have a magnetic fuel filter in line.
An effect taken advantage of in the "torque limiting bar".
Tom, did you check the Schrader valve? In 3 out of 4 slow leaks on my 757, the Schrader valve was the cause and was easy to fix.
