if it is a 12 volt then all they have to do is switch the solenoid, would be cheeper than a new starter. if it is 24volt then you have something to possibly sell or use until you do the conversion. to check it out they probably would not charge much.
i would not try to guess from the outside, could very much be a 12volt starter with a 24volt solenoid. I would consider takeing it to a starter shop and have it checked out. They can tell from the internals what the real voltage is and get freshin it up if needed.
maybe someone could not get...
tried the pull latch and hit hood method with no success. there is no longer any spring tension on the pull handle under the dash and when you push and pull it you can hear the cable flopping around. I am pretty sure the cable came loose from the latch.
from another site, I will try to first...
hood scoop for snorkel and exhaust
got some work done today to the hood opening before the hood quit opening.
Using flat bar I made the first part of the scoop and used steel rivets to rivet it in place. This gives me something to weld to. the flat bar was mitered and welded including the...
any one here have any suggestions on how to get the hood open when the cable is not working. I can hear the cable flopping around when I push and pull the lever in the cab.
my first though is to pull the drivers side fender well out and maybe I can reach it with a hood. not sure I can pick it...
if you cannot find a compression test tool, I have one. I am out of town until Monday but I can mail it to you. it has an adaptor that goes in the glow plug hole. you test it with the starter and the glow plugs out.
install the tool, connect gauge and turn it over a couple times to get a reading...
if you have pulled the bleeder and the calipers still do not let loose, then there must be a problem with the slides on the caliper, if the caliper cannot slide, one side of the pad will stay pressed on the rotor
the flange uses the double cardon joint. you can change the rear tail housing of the t-case to install the flange but then you have to put the slip into the drive shaft. so it cost a few $ but worth it if you have a high lift. You have to buy a new rear housing for the t-case, new flanged...
all of the r16 xzl tires available now are 33 inch tires, may find a few 36 inch. The ones I have are 11 wide x 39 tall.
they are great tires, I wish I could buy another set. I have two new ones and two with 60% tread in my storage for when the set I have now wears out. The four I have on the...
does the 24v alt fit the cucv alternator mounts and will it work on a v belt. i looked at some but they were serpentine belt and much bigger.
I know the cucv amulances ran the rear ac off of an alt so i was wanting to get more info on that system.
thanks for the constructive input

looking to get all 100 amps out of the 24 volt system to go into an inverter for electric ac unit.
and 100 amps at 12 volt to run the truck 12 volt items. should not need all 100 amps at 12 volt unless i put a serious stereo system and that is not the plan
so using a 200 amp 12 volt alt. and...
are you talking about NDT tires. That is the only tire I consider military.
I have Michelin xzl's 11x39 that fit the stock 16 inch rims but they don't make these tires anymore.
going to be a problem for me when I wear the two sets I have out.
I think the r16 ndt tires were all made for...
just looking at ideas for more electrical power, I was checking on alternators and have found replacements for the 27si that can go to 200 amps or more.
They don't have isolated grounds so it does not help to get more 24v power but could provide more 12v power without sacraficing any of the 24v...
when the wires are hacked, there is no telling what someone did. IF all of the wiring harness is like that then you might consider getting a salvaged interior wiring harness from someone and just replace the entire interior section.
The best thing to do is return it to stock if you can. I am...
my truck is already insulated probably better than a civy unit with the exception of the roof. I have two layers of interior fire wall insulation and the three layers of floor insulation. The rear bed sides have stick on insulation and they will be stuffed with about 2 inches of fiberglass...
The circuit board looks good, The plug should work, it does not look damaged. maybe the blinker problem is not in the cluster and somewhere else on the vehicle. have you opperated your blinkers with the circuit board unpluged to see if you get the same result. There may be a problem in the...
The system puts up a max of 100 amps at 24volts. I am not sure at what rpm the full 100 amps is available. If I go this route I plan to put a second string of batteries in the truck so that there will be 4 deep cycle batteries. With four I wont have to worry about cranking amps.
my truck is...
I am looking at the possability of a roof top hvac unit for my 1009 to be powered by a 24v to 120v inverter.
I like this inverter
https://www.sigineer.com/product/3000-watt-24-volt-to-120-240vac-dual-phase-pure-sine-inverter-charger/. It has built in ATS and 24V battery charging when using...
