Was easy to put on. Whopping 20 bucks.
The danger of the fan taking out the rad is one reason why I replaced the steel fan with a plastic one from Summit Racing. The blades can be trimmed to fit with scissors, it moves a lot of air and is easier on the water pump bearings than the heavy steel fan.
Thanks for the moral support. I have the lump stored away now. BFH, scrap wood and another two hours of coaxing the thing to its final resting place. There are times where I so wish I had a huge shop, with a smooth concrete floor and tons of space.
On second thought, I should have placed the...
Here are the pics from the manual re turbo lines:
Difficult to see but a head gasket oil leak at the rear of the block could also have oil running down the back of the block and then over to one side and down onto the starter. Something to look for.
The oil supply and oil return lines for the turbo sit on the passenger side near the starter. Return line has a fabric covered piece of high temp hose to connect the metal line to the block....I'd be suspieious of that one. Other than these, it may be the oil pan itself or its seal leaking in...
Second the flange bolts issue. If they have been on there long enough, you may even have to "blue wrench" them off. Maybe source replacement bolts before you start the job to avoid down time, I also recommend using copper nuts, for that exact reason.
Since I replaced it with an LDS in 2017 I have the old "lump" taking up space in various locations around the garage . I built a new storage shed and had the great idea of moving the 1600 lbs monster into that yesterday.
Great idea. In case you are wondering, an engine hoist will crush a shed...
Good score! Despite the frustrating parts, let me tell you how lucky you are that you have an opportunity to bid on such items AND pick them up at a facility not too far away. No such opportunity here for me, unfortunately, just checking GovPlanet and being jealous!
I used a Westach EGT and boost gauge

There is a subtile suggestion in these links that locking brakes based on air pressure is unsafe.
I find your proposal interesting and notice that the military went for hydraulic line locks instead. Just for discussion, I was also wondering what specific problem this setup would solve on a...
Inquiring minds want to know...how do you get your truck up there? Long ramps? Looks like a great place to work on the underside! I seem to prefer pushing gravel down my collar every time I move under my truck and losing small fasteners between the rocks. Much more fun.
I own two armored vehicle dual headlights with base. I have located ONE. For the life of me, I cannot find the other. They were together, last time I saw, before the winter. Why are the not, now? And how difficult is it to misplace a thing of this weight and size? Maybe it's in my sock drawer.
Yes, there is a governor. My LDS was set by the motor pool to a governed 2500 rpm similar to the LDT instead of the 2800 the LDS allows. I am totally fine with that and left it.

You did not say but I assume your EGT probe is pre-turbo. If so, the temps you list are in line with what I am seeing (but I am only at 250ft or so of elevation) with an LDS. Mine would boost well beyond 15 psi if I let it (I do not) and running empty on a flat stretch I see around 600-800F at...
I ran 80/90 gear oil in my transmission. That worked fine and I agree with other posters that in a warmer climate it is probably all you need. Where I am, even the margins of the winter (spring and fall) are cold enough to make initial shifting a very stiff affair.
After my OD mod I now run 40w...
